How clean is your face?
To be honest, I sometimes wonder if I wash my face cleanly. As a result, I sometime double and even triple cleanse before stepping out of the bathroom. And yet, I do feel like it’s not really clean or whenever I’m lazy, I’ll just wash with facial cleanser and apply mask and let the mask do the rest of the work. But really, how effective and clean is this?
On daily basis, I have my daily makeup on, I will first use the milk cleanser to wash off a layer of makeup and facial cleanser the next step. At times when I have heavier makeup on, I would first use the eye makeup remover oil for eyes and face, then the milk cleanser, and lastly the facial cleanser. Usually when I have heavier makeup on is when I attend events and parties. Most of the time, I will reach home late at night. AT TIMES, well most of times, when I am very tired and lazy, I would use the make up remover wet wipes, followed with just facial cleanser. Boy oh boy… Confirm breakout the next day.
With that said, how do we justify whether we clean our face the right way and effectively?
Thanks to Philips, I attended their beauty workshop at Villa Manja to learn more in depth about our skin and the most effective way to facial cleansing. I was introduced to their new gentle cleansing device called VisaPure. Philips VisaPure is the latest revolutionary cleansing device empowered for consumers to make their beauty routines simpler and more convenient with the latest technology available. Providing 10 times more effective effective than hand cleansing, and revitalises your skin in just one minute!
We are grateful to have Dr Christina Chea, a local aesthetic physician with more than 10 years of experience, to share and educate us on the proper skin regime routine to us. From the workshop, I learned that cleansing is the most vital step in our everyday cleansing regime and has to be done thoroughly to ensure clean skin. The usual spots on our face which we are prone to neglect are the upper forehead, hairline and jawline. I can totally relate to this as I personally usually focus a lot on my T-zone and cheeks when I wash my face.
There are many cleansing products in the market, be it water based, gel foam, milk, cream and many more for different types of skin. Each individual has different type of skin and it is important to use the right product to achieve the effective results. Otherwise, we might end up getting the opposite effect if we use products which is not suitable for our skin. Always remember that our skin type is not based on our age, but solely on our skin type. Some people may be matured in age, but youthful skin *cough cough*
One question I asked was, “How many times should we wash our face in a day?”
Dr Christina suggested that for those with combination skin, dry and oily, it is recommended to have 2 types of cleanser, mild cleanser during the day and heavier at night. For sensitive skin and oily, 3 times a day; whilst sensitive and dry skin, 2 times a day.
And the most crucial topic came up which shocked most of us – facial wet wipes! It is suggested that we STOP USING wet wipes as it is best to be used occasionally as an emergency/last resort cleansing tool. It is not advisable to use wet wipes on a daily usage as it contains alcohol and chemical. The best solution is to use makeup remover and cotton wool. BEST.
For stubborn blackheads, it could be caused by our skin care/cosmetics which is just too rich for our skin and clogs the pore. Especially makeup! The best skin care regime is to have 3 layers on our skin – toner, serum/moisturiser, sunblock, etc.. As long as 3 layers of products on our skin.
It is suggested that we use cleansing device as a tool to wash our face as using our bare hands can be insufficient for proper cleansing as our hands are unable to reach certain contours of the face, resulting in an accumulation of residue in those areas that will clog up the pores and cause spots and dullness.
The Philips VisaPure Essential (SC5275 model) I received comes with 2 speed settings, 2 brush heads (normal and sensitive), stand (charging and storing stand), power adapter, travelling pouch and instruction manual.
Philips VisaPure Essential brings a new face care technology that will take your daily cleansing routine to the next level without extra effort. A gentle way of leaving your skin clean, soft and radiant.
The brush heads are detachable and it is easy to put on and take off from the body. The device is waterproof, hence, you could even wash your face using Philips Visapure even while you’re taking a shower.
One of the major concern with Philips VisaPure is the brush. Many asked about the brush and whether it is okay to use it daily. Rest assured, the brushes are as gentle as our hands and suggested to have a lifespan of 3 months and you can use it twice in a day! The 2 brushes that are included with Philips VisaPure Essential are 1 for Normal skin and 1 specifically designed for Sensitive skins. An Exfoliating Brush Head is available separately, with exfoliating effect to gently remove dull and dead skin cells.
The brush is made of nylon and the size of bristle is smaller, finer and more than other cleansing devices.
The brush heads come with covers that has holes which allows the brush to dry naturally. Also, to prevent dirt getting into the brushes after wash.
Philips VisaPure comes with specifically designed brushes for skin types that requires extra attention and care. The sensitive skin brush head is soft to the touch, minimising abrasion. For a deep clean, the exfoliating brush head has an exfoliating effect to gently remove dull and dead skin cells.
It is said that Philips Visapure recently won a prestigious iF Product Design Award.
Philips VisaPure Essential provides 2 different speed settings: Speed one, ‘gentle cleansing’, for a mild and soft cleansing. Speed two, ‘deep cleansing’, for a comfortable and more intensive cleansing. Philips VisaPure features “Dual Motion” technology where the brush rotates and vibrates at the same time. The vertical pulsating movement gently breaks up surface impurities including dirt, dead skin cells and make-up residues. The rotating movement sweeps the impurities away, leaving the skin more deeply cleansed. The coordinated movements of the bristles give you a thorough and comfortable cleansing experience.
The charging dock which also serve as a stand, elegantly complements the iconic design of Philips VisaPure Essential. It holds the brush, taking less space and letting air naturally dry the used brush. When connected it fully charges Philips VisaPure Essential in 6 hours for a good 30 minutes use, which is equivalent to up to 30 wash!
Philips VisaPure makes its first entrance into Malaysia this year since it was first established in 2011 and already in the European market since then. Philips believe in smarter beauty and the new innovation is to give us beautiful ladies a smarter options to be beautiful. Our face reflects our identity and we spent most of our time and savings maintaining our beauty. So, why not invest in a beauty tool which ensures effective cleansing? Otherwise, wash 10 times with hands to get that same effective result. 😀
