The Coffee Date With The Ambassador

Zdravo!!

It means “Good Health” in Bosnian.

If meeting an Ambassador in person is a miracle, what say you, when His Excellency personally taught me how to pronounce, Zdravo. :D

with H.E. Ensar Eminovic, BH Ambassador-designate to Malaysia

It was a great pleasure to meet H.E. Ensar Eminovic, Ambassador of Bosnia-Herzegovina to Malaysia in person over a cup of coffee in Starbucks, tHe Spring. Ensar (prefers that we address him by his first name) was in town for the Malaysia Day celebration, as well as for the press conference of Malaysia Global Business Forum – Bosnia (the Forum). I am honoured to be among the few bloggers invited to get the first scoop about the Forum the night before the press.

with Mr. Nordin Abdullah, M.D. of Glenreagh Sdn. Bhd.

All thanks to Mr. Nordin Abdullah, Managing Director of Glenreagh Sdn Bhd, the official organiser of  the Forum for including the bloggers in this informal coffee session to know more about the Forum. Also, many thanks to Diong, Sales Manager of BCCK for the arrangement and for extending the invitation to us :) and also ahlost for spreading the word.

His Excellency sharing with the bloggers

We learnt a lot more than just the Forum.  Ensar shared a lot about their to culture, lifestyle, attractions, and even food! Kudos to Cyril and Norman for the great interview – they know what to ask. I only asked about food in Bosnia.

Bosnia – Herzegovina is located in the Southeast of Europe. Like any country in Europe, Bosnia has 4 seasons (Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer). The currency used is Bosnia Mark. It is approximately 1.95 Mark to Euro.

One of the most popular food in Bosnia is the Bosnian kebab. That explains the humble Satay lover, Ensar who then continued to describe more about Bosnian foodstyle. Bosnian kebab is eaten with sour cream and bread which looks like a naan bread. Bosnian food is very much influenced by the Turkish as they were under the ruling of Turkey for many many years. Young calf and sheep are popular eaten meat, especially those baby sheeps from the mountains. Cooking style is very much grilling and roasting.

Do you know that the first European Pyramid is discovered in Bosnia? The Bosnian Pyramid is located in the heart of Bosnia, Visoko city. It is one of the main attraction in Bosnia’s tourism sector. Taken from the BosnianPyramid.com, the pyramid is 2,300 feet high! And who said that only Egyptians have pyramids. :P

To add, Ensar mentioned, “We have more history than we can consume”.

When asked how does this and that feels like in Bosnia, Ensar smiled and repeatedly said that to know more about Bosnia, we must try and experience it for ourselves. Which is very true. I hope that someone would start up a Bosnian restaurant here. I am still very much incapable to finance my own return flight tickets. :(

I am very very honoured to meet Ensar and Nordin.

In between the Twin Towers

Did I mention that they enjoy taking pichas like us? Hohoho.. They are so cool!

How often do you get sucha chance to do this in front of an ambassador:

Randomness kicks in - check out JF's facial expression

Ok ok. A proper picha for the album. :)

The Premium Gang with the Ambassador and the MD

Teehee.. Naughty us. Checkout the hands.

It is a very rare occassion to meet an Ambassador. A group picha is a must!!

For Project 365: Day 198 October 11, 2009

Now back to business.

To all key leaders and decision makers, if your organisations is planning to go global and into the international business, you should attend the Forum. The Forum  is in line with the government to encourage Malaysian companies to go Global.

Bosnia was once a humanitarian country, now a business reliable country.

“Bosnian companies are looking to penetrate into Malaysia and to establish business relations and partnerships. Like Sarawak, Bosnia has strength in the power sector and establishing closer cooperation between Bosnian and Malaysian companies will open up new opportunities that will be mutually beneficial.” – Nordin Abdullah

The President of Bosnia-Herzegovina, H.E. Dr. Haris Silajdzic is attending the forum. We will be seeing the familiar face of our former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad as he will be delivering the Key Note Address with other respectable speakers from Bosnia including: Amer Bukvic – CEO Bank Bosnia International (aka Europe’s leading Islamic banker); Amer Jeralgic – CEO of Elktrpravada; Sam Osmanagic – discoverer the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids and Bosnia’s Indiana Jones; Tarik Dodic – Secretary General of Foreign Trade Chamber Bosnia; and also Bosnian Cabinet Ministers.

From the list of big names in Bosnian Industry and our very own former PM who has the knowledge of global business practices, you will learn a lot from the Forum. There will be a Closed Door Session with Tun Dr Mahathir BUT that’s by invitation only.
