Gladys, Yien and I have been planning to bring our lovely Lostling for dinner and present her belated-birthday gift. However, it took us quite some time to do so as time and availability of each party was kinda hard to sync. And finally, we managed to gather together for dinner at Mr. Ho’s Fine Food.

Wineful dinner

I brought a bottle of wine from home. It was a birthday gift from Gordon and Eva. Hehehee..

Breathe Wine Breathe

It costs RM15 only for corkage fee in Mr. Ho’s Fine Food. Affordable corkage fee. Everyone drank wine that night. heeheehee..

I'm adult enough to drink

Well, I’m not so kid to drink. I’m not too old to drink either. I’m just adult enough to drink. Hehe

Mr. Ho's Caesar Salad @ RM19.90

For appetizer, we had Caesar Salad. I still prefer their Garden Salad which contains varieties of lettuces and other gardenish ingredients with its vinaigrette dressing.

Mussels in Chilli Cream Sauce @ RM15.90

We had Mussels in Chilli Cream sauce and Lamb Satay while waiting for our main course.

Lamb Satay @ Rm2.50 each

The lamb satay comes in half a dozen of six sticks.

Spaghetti Aglio Olio @ RM12.90

Rose and I had Spaghetti Aglio Olio. The Aglio Olio is the tastiest Aglio Olio in Kuching for me, so far.

Mr. Ho's Signature Prawn Pasta @ RM19.90

Mr. Ho’s Signature Prawn Pasta is the best spaghetti in Kuching, for me so far. :3

Roast Chicken @ RM13.90

Yien had a whole quarter of chicken on her plate. She couldn’t finish the everything. Big portion you know.

Wargyu Beef @ RM150.00

That night, the waitress recommended their dish of the night, Wargyu Beef. But little did we know that it would cost us RM150.00 for it. T_______T

Cheers

Who cares how much the dinner cost us. What matters most is that we’re satisfied and enjoyed our meal together and nice wine to cheers throughout dinner.

Rose and her supreme-belated-birthday gift

And presenting Rose, our supreme-belated-birthday gift, we hope you like it. Time passes, but memories remain.

Kelson (KL zai) joined us for dinner since he was in Kuching.

For Christmas 2009, we decided to try something different from what we normally do - potluck dinner at some relative’s place. I made a reservation at Silhouette since they have this super cheap affordable lunch sets EVEN ON CHRISTMAS DAY itself. The lunch set is RM15.00 only per person and you get to eat Italian food! There are 3 lunch sets to choose from. For each lunch set, it comes with 1 soup of the day, 1 main course and 1 glass of soft drink.

Soup of the day

The soup is very creamy and because it is such a big bowl (refer to the picha below), I filled half my tank with it. The soup tastes yummy with more pepper.

Rich & Creamy Soup of the Day

Want to bet that those black spots are mushroom? Those are blended mushroom weii!! Super rich and creamy soup!

Big Bowl

FYI (for your information), the soup comes alone, no bread. If you eat bread with the soup, that settles for a meal already. Must save some space for the main course mah.

For the main course, there are…

Set A

Penne All Arrabbiata

The tube pasta with spicy tomato sauce topped with cheese and nothing else. I really like this plate of pasta as it is spicy and a tinge of sweet and sour from the tomato sauce. The pasta is well done. Not too soft – overcooked and vice versa. This is my favourite among the 3 sets.

Set B

Spaghetti Bolognaise

The Spaghetti Bolognaise is superb as well. The sauce is creamy and the spaghetti is well done. I like the sauce though. Really have the authentic Italian taste and the Chef uses the whole tomato for the sauce rather than using tomato paste (perhaps he added a bit of the paste).

I chia you one bite

Yet another satisfying plate of pasta.

Set C

Pizza Di Funghi E Prosciutto (6")

The Pizza Di Funghi E Prosciutto consists of tomato sauce base, turkey ham, mushroom, and uber lots of mozzarella cheese! Definitely love the pizzas here. You get to taste the real deal here, my friend. Satisfy your Italian Pizza crave here. It beats all other pizza outlets in town by taste, price (RM23 for a large pizza), quality and satisfaction. The crust is thin and crispy, the toppings rich with cheese, just how I like my pizza to be.

Unlike *referring to some Pizza chain restaurant* where they serve pizza with thick crust and pathetic portion of toppings and service so terrible that I don’t even bother to dine in it again. I’m sure many are full from eating the crust itself. Might as well buy roti (bread) and toast with bolognaise sauce and cheese on top.

Personal pizza bigger than my face!

The size of the personal pizza is very big and it is highly recommended that you share with your friends and family. Order a few different sets and share it among yourselves. That way, you get to sample 3 different Italian dishes in one meal. If you add RM6 more into the set, you will get one portion of Insalata de Cesare (Caesar Salad).

Uber long table

I like the hospitality given by Silhouette management. They specially prepared these table settings for us so we can have a proper meal together. Supposedly, the tables they have inside are all round tables and it would be pretty inconvenient for us to have a meal together with such a large number of hungry people.

I’m glad that everyone was enjoying themselves with the pizza and pasta here, except for my uncle who does not enjoy Italian food. *dang* Good thing Silhouette serves something else apart from just Pizza and Pasta. *phew*

Calamari with Spicy Sauce @ RM10

If Unc says it’s good, it’s good. I’m going to try this on my next visit. I <3 squids!

My Uncle enjoyed the Calamari in Spicy Sauce and the fried chicken wings.

Fried Chicken Wings @ RM15

Unc enjoyed it, the kids enjoyed it. I will give it a try when I’m done trying all the pizzas they have here. Kekekekkee.. (I don’t fancy fried chicken wings. I prefer roasted/bbq chicken wings)

After feasting and temporarily imagining ourselves in Italy feasting on Italian cuisine, we had 2 rounds of Bingo (brought from home) before heading back to my place.

Overall, it was a memorable, fun and bloatful Christmas lunch party with my family.

Carvery Restaurant is located in Pending and it’s not very far from the town. Carvery is well known for its meaty lunch and dinner buffet. You get to taste a wide variety of meat right from the skewers!

Here’s the location map:

Carvery Restaurant location map

It’s not surprising that the place is packed almost at all time and especially full house during the weekends.

Full house as usual

It is advisable to make an early reservation before hand. This is to secure you a table and to avoid disappointment to go all the way to feast and yet FULL HOUSE. By then, Super GG lorh..

The buffet consists of a wide range of salad, saute veggies and meat, soup of the day and non-stop serving of 14 baked, grilled and roasted meat and seafood (may be refilled).

The Salad Bar

The salad bar looks very inviting. We all need to maintain a balanced diet, veggies is also a MUST to feast on. Apart from that, who would say “No” to those crispy fresh imported lettuces? Plus, there are imported chicken and turkey ham. Yum Yum!

Lettuce, Olive, Pickles and cucumber stick

There are spaghetti/pasta, baked potatoes <3, saute veggies, and meat, steamed veggies, beef stew, and much more…

For starters, I had the salad and veggies.

Freshly baked bread

On every table, there is a freshly baked bread. Every table has different types and sizes of bread.

The bread is very fluffy and soft, and goes very well with the soup.

Hot Cream Soup with bread

Don’t take too much of the soup. You definitely don’t want to fill up your tank with just soup and bread.

Before serving all the meat to every table, they served us the two sauces to go with the meat first. There are the black pepper sauce and brown sauce.

Black Pepper Sauce and Brown Sauce

How I wish they have tabasco sauce. Heehee..

The meat buffet consists of chicken, lamb, beef and sausages cooked in many ways; grilled, roasted, and saute. They are brought to the tables still on the skewers and we can decide the cut size of the meat

Roasted Lamb

We all get small slices of meat. If you think that the waitress is ngiawchee (stingy) for serving us such a small piece of meat, you have mistaken her for it. They serve us in tiny pieces because there are approximately 14 kinds of meat and seafood for us to try!

If they serve us in big pieces, by the time we reach the 4th or 5th piece, we are full already. Then, we won’t be able to try everything they have prepared. If you accumulate all the small pieces of meat in one plate, you’ll get a mountain of meat! Don’t believe me, see it for yourself and add them all up on a plate:

Bro said the grilled fish is a bit too plain and nothing. So, he made a “toast” by putting the fish on his freshly baked bread.

MERRY GUINNESS!! (Merry Christmas)

Merry Guinness

As much as a Guinness Stout lover, I absoGUINNESSly favour Silhouette Restaurant & Bar for serving Guinness gravy apart from Guinness draught. Yes, you read that right. Guinness gravy as in the tasty gravy poured over succulent delicious meat which contains Guinness Stout. This my friend, is called food pairing. The inspiration to combine food for a better taste and experience, and yes, for better health as well. *chuckles*

Guinness Christmas Menu

In celebrating the festive season, Silhouette is currently serving the Guinness Christmas Menu. There are two main courses in the Guinness Christmas menu: Beef Stew and Lamb Chop @ RM35.00.

Dine with Guinness, Silhouette & Annna

For every main course you order from the Guinness Christmas menu, you will get one perfect pint of Guinness draught on the house aka FREE Guinness Stout.

This absoGUINNESSly great promo valid till 31st December 2009.

Merry Guinness #1: Beef Stew

Merry Guinness Beef Stew. Enjoy this delicious succulent beef chunks and potatoes stewed in a gravy of Guinness stout served with baguette (bread). The beef is really tender and delicious. It is very herbish and a little little spicy. Don’t underestimate this plate of beef stew as it is very filling. The Guiness gravy is awesome. You can really taste the stoutness in it. When you’re chewing the beef, take a sip of Guinness, it tastes even better.

Merry Guinness #2: Lamb Chop

Merry Guinness Lamb Chop. The grilled lamb chops is served with potatoes, carrots and broccoli in a wholesome of Guinness gravy. For lamb chop lovers, you absoGUINNESSly will love this. The juicy lamb with the delicious Guinness gravy is to die for. If you think black pepper or mushroom sauce is the best to go with lamb chops, you definitely haven’t tasted the best.

If you worry about getting drunk from consuming so “much” Guinness Stout – from food and drink, well, fret not. The Guinness gravy has zero to superminimal alcohol % in it once it’s cooked. OR just give me your pint of Guinness draught. Kekekekekeke…

Pin JI Cafe

The actual name of the place is Pin Ji Cafe, a coffeeshop located beside Alliance Bank, opposite AirAsia office. Chicken Rice and More is just a name Darrel randomly came up as the place is also located just opposite Pizza and More. And also because Bryan cooks more than just Steamed Chicken Rice.

Bryan and Darrel

The Chicken Rice (Steamed or Roasted) is available daily (except Saturday and Sunday).

Steamed Chicken Rice @ RM3.50

I’m impressed with the is juiciness and tenderness of the chicken and on top of that, I likey the spring onions and fried garlic toppings. Chicken rice must have condiments to go with it. The chillies I mean. You gotta love the chillies! Very rich and spicy~ Gimme gimme more~

Apart from the chicken rice, there are different special dishes everyday! For example:

Monday – Chicken Chop Valentine @ RM7.50

Tuesday – Thai Mango Chicken Rice @ RM4.00

Wednesday – Butter Chicken Rice @ RM4.50

Thursday – Kung Pao Chicken Rice @ RM4.00

Friday – Heritage Curry Rice @ RM4.50 (vegetarian Curry upon request – potatoes )

Saturday – Quiche Galore

Sunday – off day. lol..

Chicken Chop Valentine @ RM7.50

As I described this to ahlost via SMS, “Butterish which reminds me of jagung when i eat the veggie. The meat is tender and juicy. Cooked at the right level, not too cook yet not bloody. The potatoes are too little. If eat with rice would be more full. So, should give more potatoes. Tastewise is yummy. Has a pinch of herbs taste. Oh, crispy skin.“

Kung Pao Chicken Rice @ RM 4.00

Apart from chicken, they have veggies as well. There are Ipoh style Taugeh (bean sprouts) @ RM2.00 and Garlic Soya Veggie @ RM2.50.

Garlic and Soya Baby Kailan @ RM2.50

So far, I’ve tried the Chicken Rice, Chicken Chop, Heritage Curry – vegetarian, and Baby Kailan. They are all superb. Although it’s a bit far of a walking distance for me, but I don’t mind going all the way there for yummylicious lunch.

So, if anyone is in town and don’t know where to go for lunch, just head over to Pin Ji cafe. And if you’re going there, give me a buzz, I might join you for lunch.

When you’re hitting a buffet, it’s all about eating, eating and eating – eat all you can. Well, here are some tips about eating right and smart in an all-you-can-eat buffet.

First, always start with salad.

Tomato, Cucumber & Mayo

Unfortunately, I didn’t take any picha of the greens. There were all sorts of imported lettuces! Love french dressing with them.

Salami Counter

I always jump to the salad/cold counter first, because, I like…

yumilicious ham, lamb meat, salmon

and

Smoked Salmon

and

Roasted chicken

At the salad counter, I saw this:

Eggies

You know, this would be a good guess for PrizeGiveAway. But then again, I’ve came up with something different for the next PrizeGiveAway.

Also at the salad counter;

Sushi

What do you think? It’s International buffet afterall. kekekeke..

Be sure to survey around and make note of the “ho liao” (good stuffs) you want to try/eat. If you want to try EVERYTHING, take EVERYTHING in small amount. You would like to venture and try all sorts of food, but at the same time, try not to over eat. Hungry you may be, but eating moderately leads you to a healthier lifestyle

Roasted Lamb & potatoes

Grilled Salmon on Mashed Potatoes

Chicken ala something

Next, choose the types of food you rarely eat/tried, signature dishes, not high carbohydrates – stay away from rice or don’t take too much rice, noodles, etc high carbs, avoid drinking soft drinks (tea is best, next is water), and always, ALWAYS, enjoy eating and not overeating just because you want to eat at your money’s worth.

Spaghetti Bolognese

Fetucini Carbonara and Pepperoni Pizza

Hainanese Chicken Rice

Tempura Prawns

Taiwanese Beef Noodles

Still, Spring Garden’s Beef Noodle for the win.

Remember to save some space for desserts. Be it fruits, jellies, cakes or sweets.

Oh, there’s this great stuff in this buffet too. Sweet. Chocolatey. Yummilicious. Indulgence.

Every Monday, there would be BBQ Party by the poolside for SuperStar Virgo. Every Tuesday evening, there would be the Captain Gala Dinner, whereby, the Captain and his Assistants have dinner with everyone.

At first, we wanted to have dinner at the Pavilion Room as they serve Shark fin and Abalone during Captain Gala Dinner. Unfortunately, we were too late to make the reservations. It happened that few China groups joined in the 3 Nights Sunday Cruise and they happened to pre-book the dinner several months before getting onboard whereas we only made the bookings one month before.

We had our dinner at Bella Vista, the International Restaurant. It was a very grand dinner. The Captain dines with the finest people onboard and seated in the special table. Whereas we (normal people) dines around them.

Settle down everyone.. Let’s order dinner.

Due to the capacity of the restaurant, there were two seatings for dinner. First seating at 6.30pm and the second one at 8.00pm. If we die die want to have dinner at Pavilion Room, we would be at the second seating. However, old folks cannot tahan till 8pm then eat mar.

Anyway, let’s hop into food. grok grok

For appetizers, we have choices of Green Salad, Chicken and Duck and Salmon.

Eat green. There’s crispy lettuce served with tomatoes, grapes, crackers, caesar dressing and topped with cheese.

Looks like fish cake product, the chicken and duck done in the same method just with extra ingredients in it; olive, pickles, etc. Served with crispy curly lettuce on starfruit.

This salmon is done like canned tuna. xDD Mashed salmon topped with mini raw taugehs (bean sprouts), served with a spoonful of mango cocktail and crispy curly lettuce sitting on cucumber.

One of the best Mushroom Cream Soup I’ve tasted. Best!

I like.. <3

Crispy chicken with breadcrumbs on the outside served with boiled veggies (carrots, celeries, peas), sitting on rice.

Grilled fish (I think it’s Dorree Fish) served with rice, asparagus, and mushrooms.

Seafood ala blablabla (can’t remember). Prawns, Squid, Salmon, Scallops, asparagus, brocolly, tomato and lemon sitting on the pastry surrounded with buttered rice (damn hard as if not cooked *choked*)

I like this the most. So cute. Got star on it somemore. v(^.^v)

It’s actually beef covered with pastry served with veggies.

Dessert: Ice Cream Cake (Top: Strawberry; Bottom: Vanilla) served fruit parfait.

At the end of the dinner, we were served coffee/tea and miniatures cakes and chocolates.

One of my favourite group of people. The man on the far right is Uncle Dennis. He owns a DSLR!! He self study photography many many years ago. How cool is that?? Imagine your grandpa snapping pictures with a DSLR.

This group ok lar.. A bit complainish, at least I can still swallow food.

3 couples, 1 have a lot to say about EVERYTHING! Urgh! Can’t sleep in a piece peaceful dream.

MY GANG! woo hoo.. coolest people on earth.

Far left, my aunty (boss). On her right are her cousins Ms Yii & Ms Yu ( 2 beautiful people and very SIAW too).

Far right are grand-aunty and uncle. Learnt many new things from Ms Yii and Ms Yu. *—*

The lady in helmet is the youngest in the tour group.

To some of us, dinner was not very fulfilling. After Bella Vista, some went back to cabin to change and we went over to The Mediterranean Buffet for second round. It’s like most of the things we do onboard is Eat Eat Eat..

Next on.. *Ting Ting Ting* ROUND TWO

Continuing my update on the 3 Nights Sunday Cruise. There are 8 restaurants in SuperStar Virgo, namely The Samurai (Japanese), The Taj (Indian & HALAL), Palazzo (Italian), Noble House (Chinese), Blue Lagoon, Pavilion Room (Chinese), Bella Vista (International) and Mediterranean Buffet and Terrace. You can dine in Pavilion Room, Bella Vista and The Mediterranean Buffet and Terrace in for free as the meals are included. If you stay in the Balcony Class Cabins, you have SGD200 dining credits per cabin and you could dine in the other restaurants. If you’re Muslim you can dine in Taj Mahal for free and if you’re not, SGD12 is chargeable per person.

@ The Mediterranean Buffet and Terrace

Every morning, for breakfast, we would dine in The Mediterranean Buffet and Terrace as there are gazzillions food, ranging from Western (Salad, buns, sausages, eggs, baked beans, etc) to Chinese (Dim sums and porridge) to Indian (Curry, Naan bread, papadham) and lots and lots cake plus free flow of fruit juice, tea and coffee.

There were so many food here that we had lunch and dinner here too. Everyday, the Mediterranean would serve different dishes. One of the days, we had Mexican food as one of the dish offered. I’ve never tried this before and it’s really good.

Sometimes, we would try something different and as our group consists of mostly elderly people and we had lunch at Pavilion Room.

Chicken broth with wintermelon and dried red dates for extra sweetness to the soup. It’s good to start a meal with a bowl of soup. Helps your tummy to warm up first before all the goodies go in. XDD

This Thai Fish tastes like those Mango fish we used to have in Kuching, just that there’s no fresh mango slice on the fish. It’s spicy and sour. One bowl of rice is not enough to go with this. It’s really good.

This is everyone’s favourite, Stewed Pork Leg aka Tu ka. Best part would be the fatty wobbly piece of pork leg. A little chewy and soft on the fat and sweet and tender on the meat. Amen.

I’m not a tofu eater aka I don’t eat tofu nor drink soya bean. I just don’t. I just tried the crab sauce and that white crystal thingy that tastes like hard jelly. I think that’s either sea coconut or rambutan. I don’t know what that is, but it’s sweet.

I think they call this spinach. Just cooked in Chinese style. Normally, at home, dad fry this with ikan bilis, here, they do it differently (of course la). They simple fry with garlic and served with small dried red thingy and fried ikan bilis.

I don’t eat brinjal. I don’t eat brinjal. I don’t eat brinjal. But what the heck, I took a piece of BRINJAL and had a second one. It’s very nice. Should opt my daddy to deep fried brinjal, Tempura style. Brinjal tastes nice this way.

This was what we had for our dessert at the end of our meal. It’s a warm dessert. I would prefer something cold for dessert like Honey Dew Sago.

Even if we dined here, we could still move to The Mediterranean Buffet to eat. Most of us would go over for fruits and desserts. I would go for Cherries hunting (korek cherries from cakes) and coffee.

Next post on Captain Gala Dinner. MORE MORE YUMMYLICIOUS FOOD! kikiki..

We had lunch at Ocean Palace, one of the most exclusive restaurants onboard. Normally, they have the Meet the Captain Gala Dinner here.

When you walk in the ‘Palace’, there is a mini Gemini welcoming you. So cute lar.. I wish I could bring it home with me. Wuekekekeke…

When we are to be seated, the waiters pull the chair and led us to the seat. Gentlemen sekali… Then, they align the napkin on our laps. The waitresses served us drinks. Again, I had fruit punch. It’s like my favourite drink onboard. Hohoh..

While waiting for our appetizers, we helped ourselves with buns. I had one bun as I was very hungry because I didn’t take breakfast that day. *Grok Grok*

We were to pick one appetizer out of Caesar Salad, Sesame Dipped Prawns and Corn Soup. For the main course, we have to pick one out of Red Snapper, Chicken Breast and Vegetarian Curry with Naan Bread. As for dessert, that was the hardest to choose, between Mango Parfait and Cheese Cake! HMPH!!

I had Sesame Dipped Prawns. Obviously, the prawns are dipped into special sesame batter and deep fried. It is served with tropical fruit salsa and Asian spiced mayonnaise. The prawns are very Q (springy), very very good. Goes well with the mayonnaise. After having the appetizer, my hungriness rate dropped 10%. The buns filled up 5%.

The lady from another travel agency sitting opposite me was having Caesar Salad. I pai seh want to stop her from eating, so, I just snapped a picture of the salad. According to the menu, the Caesar salad contains Romaine Lettuce with Caesar dressing, Shaved Parmesan (omg lar.. Shaved! Meaning they use shaver!! XDD), and Garlic Croutons.

Waiting for the main course took awhile. So, I took some pictures but most of them turn out cacated. =(

By the way, Ocean Palace is at the head of the ship. So, we had a great view looking out but err.. our river very muddy and can see sampah along the side. Mensiasoikan.. tsktsktsk..

Finally, food is served! My red snapper serving looks small, big plate. However, I struggled to finish it. My fullness rate is like 99%!! Never underestimate its size. The seared fillet of red snapper sitting on fork crushed potato (partially mashed potato), served with ribbon vegetables (Xiao Bai Chai), and Ginger Butter Sauce. The fish itself is sweet added with the rich butter sauce, definitely fulfilling.

This soy glazed chicken breast with Asian green vegetables sitting on jasmine rice and sweet satay sauce, not forgetting curly fried ginger slice. According to the lady sitting beside me, who ordered this, she said that it’s very delicious but she couldn’t finish the whole thing. In the end, she returned half of the rice to the chef (literally).

After finishing our main course, our desserts came.

The Mango Parfait is like ice cream. The yellowish sauce around it is Rum Lime Syrup.

I decided to have Cheese Cake. It is very very rich and creamy. One of the best Cheese Cakes I ever tried. The Graham Crackers Crust is however, too soft and it cracked easily. A bit too oily too (too much butter). The red fruit compote is there for a reason other than decoration. It’s sweet and sour. Because cheese cake is very very rich that when you eat it, at a certain point, you will feel gelik and this red fruit compote, helps the cake taste gelikless. Very good combination!

That’s all for the makan makan onboard!

Need to pack my things for my trip tomorrow~!!!!

The Vanilla Ice Cream Sundae is like those McDonald’s Ice Cream. The soft milk ice cream. Everyones favourite.

Not everything in the cafe is Elephantish. The toothpick holder is sure damn cute! It’s the shape of a tooth with a hole at the top for the toothpick.

If Vanilla Sundae is too plain for you, you can opt for Caramel, Strawberry, Blueberry, Chocolate and Peanut sundae. The sundae is topped with the flavoured jam or syrup. As for this Blueberry Sundae, the ice cream is topped with Blueberry jam.

Grandad had Chocolate Sundae. I didn’t have the chance to take a good picture of the Sundae. He enjoyed the sundae very much. He was smiling while enjoying it. Glad that he enjoyed dinner.

If you like to have bananas to go with your sundae, just add in RM0.50. To me, anything with banana is great.

After having dinner at the Elephant’s, we went over to Uncle’s house for some wine and fruits. That’ll be another post. =D

Finally, I have completed editing the major part of Dining with Elephants pictures. Muahahhahaha..

Please make sure that you have taken Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner before continuing scrolling down. The following content may or may not cause you hungry and drooling all over your keyboard. However, just a small warning to you guys. (Macamla my this post can cause so much trouble)

Starting with pasta…

This spaghetti is specially made with the Chef’s special tomato sauce and topped with Cheddar cheese. Look at the cheese.. Fuhhh… Cheesy… Meaty… Tomato-eey.. Slurps..

The origin of the chicken is Maryland. Actually, that’s not true. The truth is that this is a special marinated chicken. Taking a bite of this tender roasted chicken would bring you to Maryland or as what Ehon would call it, La-la-land. The chicken Maryland is served with rice or french fries and coleslaw.

Fish and chips is everyone’s all time favourite (maybe to some only). Why Ole Fishies? Do you remember when we were young and we normally say “ole ole” (shy shy /shame shame). So, the fish they use here is called Ole Fishies as the fishes are shy. Really!! *Giving serious big eyes look*

Anyway, the deep fried battered fish is served with french fries, tartar sauce and a wedge of lemon.

For those who prefer to have something light, this pan-fried cajun fish cutlet seals the deal immediately. Served with french fries, vegetables and tartar sauce.

I tell you now and I’ll tell you again, this is one freaking GOOD Lamb Curry! The lamb curry is served with white rice, pickled vege (archar) and crackers (papadham).

Although at Elephant Cafe, they don’t serve elephant meat, but the serving of Grilled lamb chop is ELEPHANT (big). The seasoned and grilled lamb chops comes with french fries, coleslaw and few slices of cucumber. Brown, black pepper or mushroom sauce at your own choice.

This is the DISH of the night. The stewed lamb shank is cooked in tomato gravy till tender. My gosh.. It’s so tender that you don’t even need the knife to cut it. Just by using the fork, you can easily scrap the meat off the bone. The lamb shank is served with mashed potato and veggies.

This beef steak here is another STAR of the night. The grilled beef steak is served with mashed potato and veggies. Choices of sauces are brown, black pepper and mushroom.

As I mentioned earlier, the beef steak is the Star of the night. Please meet Elephant’s very own Fido Dido. Ngekngekngek…

The tender traditional roasted beef slices are very very very sweet and juicy. Bare in mind, when you order red meat, be sure that your meat is at least medium. If too well done, the meat tend to be very hard and chewy and you could probably get choked. *choichoichoi*

The roasted beef is served with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. If you like to have veggies instead of coleslaw, you can always request for it when ordering. Oh and also you can choose sauce of your choice, brown, black pepper or mushroom sauce.

The mix-grilled is a mx of chicken chop, lamb chop and sausages, served with french fries and veggies. Choices of sauces are brown, black pepper and mushroom.

Fiush… *wipes sweat*Finally, I completed this post. Long one indeed. I hope that you guys would go to Elephant Cafe and dine there. It’s a nice place. And I hope that this post can help you guys know what kind of dishes they serve and would try them out too.

By the way, i’d like to add another part for this Elephant, Dining with Elephants III. After a review of drinks, starters and main course, any idea what’s going to be in Dining with Elephants III ? *wink wink*

Sorry for not updating.. So busy with editing pictures and I can hardly get online. Okui.Net is still ergh okui-ing. Anyway, after the Elephants, I’ll post on the Cruise.

Elephant Cafe and Bistro is located in Ang Cheng Ho. It is a quiet place for drinks and meals. However, with us all in it, peace and quiet is impossible.

The name says it all. Turn left, turn right, you will see elephants. The whole place is decorated with miniature elephants, huge paper cutout elephant, huge pictures of elephants and etc.. There’s a picture of fishes. It’s pretty cool. All the fishes are in a pool and shaped of a big fish.

Now, let’s get starting. I split this post into two. The first one would be on the menu, drinks and starters.

Help yourself with the menu…

(Click on the menu for larger view)

* * *

The drinks here range from softdrink to latte. Price ranging from RM2.80 to RM7.80.

Let’s lim teh. They do serve tea here. Various types of teas. This is Ice Peppermint Tea. It looks and tastes different from those Kopitiam Poh PohPeppermint tea (of course la).

As juicy as it sound, the orange juice is fresh and juicy. My cousin, age 4, enjoys this very much. With the amount of ice in it, no doubt that he’s getting cough tonight.

Mango and lemon freeze is the combination of mango syrup and lemon juice. I didn’t try it but I guess it should be zesty and refreshing.

Here’s how you make a glass of milkshake. First of all, get a glass of milk (duh). Then, use your hand to cover the top. What else? Start shaking till bubbles are visible then you stop. There you go. EEhhhhhh.. Please don’t try this at home.

I had a sip of this. Taste very yoghurty and no raspberry. They either forgotten to put in the berries or the berries are shy. I still like the Mango Yoghurt Syrup at LL Banana Leaf.

I had this. Hohoho.. Am still loving Banana Chocolate. Bing! Banana Chocolate still win big time.

Fresh Garden Salad is a mixture of raw veges: crispy lettuce, wedged tomatoes, ring onions, shredded carrots and purple cabbage. The salad is accompanied with the pinkish cream called Thousand Island.

How to make mashed potato?

First, wash and peel the skin of the potatoes. Then, soak in cold water while you peel the rest. Boil or steam the potatoes. When they are done, placed them in a big bowl and start smashing with the hammer. Wuahahhaha.. A fork will do. Add in some fresh milk and salt and pepper to your like. Lastly, eat it.

I’ll get to Dining with Elephants II after my morning class.
