White Wine

Ladies night falls on every Wednesday of the week at Silhouette. Ladies get free flow of drinks (either cocktail, mixture or wine – depending on the drink of the night) from 5 till late. For the past two Wednesdays, we were at Silhouette and twice we get free flow of white wine (slow drinking as you drink by sip). Thus, Benben called it Silhou-White instead of Silhouette.

The Star Sarawak Edition was officially launched by YB Datuk Amar Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Johari bin Tun Abang Haji Openg, Minister of Housing and Urban Development Sarawak, representing YAB Chief Minister of Sarawak. YB was accompanied by The Star’s Executive Deputy Chairman Dato’ Clement Hii, Datin Linda Ngiam, Mr Ng Beng Lye, Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai and Mr. Rajah during the launching.

The event started with registration of invited guests and members of the media. The invited guests were mostly from business organisations and associations. I went over to register as a Media. :3

Soup of the day

The soup is very creamy and because it is such a big bowl (refer to the picha below), I filled half my tank with it. The soup tastes yummy with more pepper.

Penne All Arrabbiata

The tube pasta with spicy tomato sauce topped with cheese and nothing else. I really like this plate of pasta as it is spicy and a tinge of sweet and sour from the tomato sauce. The pasta is well done. Not too soft – overcooked and vice versa. This is my favourite among the 3 sets.

Spaghetti Bolognaise

The Spaghetti Bolognaise is superb as well. The sauce is creamy and the spaghetti is well done. I like the sauce though. Really have the authentic Italian taste and the Chef uses the whole tomato for the sauce rather than using tomato paste (perhaps he added a bit of the paste).

Pizza Di Funghi E Prosciutto (6")

The Pizza Di Funghi E Prosciutto consists of tomato sauce base, turkey ham, mushroom, and uber lots of mozzarella cheese! Definitely love the pizzas here.  You get to taste the real deal here, my friend. Satisfy your Italian Pizza crave here. It beats all other pizza outlets in town by taste, price (RM23 for a large pizza), quality and satisfaction. The crust is thin and crispy, the toppings rich with cheese, just how I like my pizza to be.

Unlike *referring to some Pizza chain restaurant* where they serve pizza with thick crust and pathetic portion of toppings and service so terrible that I don’t even bother to dine in it again. I’m sure many are full from eating the crust itself. Might as well buy roti (bread) and toast with bolognaise sauce and cheese on top.

The size of the personal pizza is very big and it is highly recommended that you share with your friends and family. Order a few different sets and share it among yourselves. That way, you get to sample 3 different Italian dishes in one meal. If you add RM6 more into the set, you will get one portion of Insalata de Cesare (Caesar Salad).

I like the hospitality given by Silhouette management. They specially prepared these table settings for us so we can have a proper meal together. Supposedly, the tables they have inside are all round tables and it would be pretty inconvenient for us to have a meal together with such a large number of hungry people.

I’m glad that everyone was enjoying themselves with the pizza and pasta here, except for my uncle who does not enjoy Italian food. *dang* Good thing Silhouette serves something else apart from just Pizza and Pasta. *phew*

After feasting and temporarily imagining ourselves in Italy feasting on Italian cuisine, we had 2 rounds of Bingo  (brought from home) before heading back to my place.

Overall, it was a memorable, fun and bloatful Christmas lunch party with my family.

For Christmas Eve, I joined my family for dinner which my Aunt had arranged a table for us in a church’s Christmas Gathering. It was a buffet dinner at Mandarin Restaurant and there’s a huge turkey!

After dinner, we went to tHe Spring for some last minute shopping. T____T spent a lot for Christmas this year.

The highlight in tHe Spring was the Countdown. Yes, countdown for Christmas. There were Christmas fireworks too. They did the similar thing last year and I was in the similar spot again this year.

This year’s fireworks is pretty short. Was expecting for something more spectacular but it was just like ordinary.

They displayed a few machines from the fitness centre to let the public feel and try them. “Belum cuba, belum tahu. Sekali cuba, hari-hari mau.” – ”NEVER TRY NEVER KNOW”. The treadmill and bicycle are the common machines any gym has. But the third one caught my interest (which I didn’t take any picha of it =..=). My first time seeing it and I can feel lotsa calories burnt just by imagining me working out on it! Why not you go over and check it out yourself.

Considering that both of us, jogs at the MBKS park as early as 6am, occasionally – whenever I can wake up for it the weather is in good mood, we signed up for the membership. We signed up because

After a long hot day outside, we went to the Spring for free aircond. There were some postage stuffs to do (there’s a mini post office on the Basement level). Then, we went up to MBO to get the “Where Got Ghost” movie tickets for bro’s friends. Apparently, the 8pm show is full house….AGAIN!

Saw this “Tsunami” movie poster while waiting for our turn at the Ticket Kiosk. Looks good. I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully it’s not fully booked during the Raya weekend.

On the way down, we stopped by Fitness Concept and checked out their treadmills. I’m looking for a good yet affordable treadmill. Need to get one at home since I stopped gyming a year ago =X Starting to feel fat. Need to lose some fat! Weight is not an issue, fat is. But a treadmill would cost up to RM5k!! Huuhuu..

The cheaper or FOC way is to do jogging every morning, but the problem is that it’s so hard for me to wake up early and feel so lazy to run in the morning. Perhaps run around my own living room, can? lol.. At least with the equipment at home, I can run on it whenever I’m free.

Am still considering whether to get it or not, but it’s a bit over my budget. Left the place with my two new  4lbs. dumbbell for RM18 each (quite cheap). teehee.. Time to tone up. Look at that arm!!

Yoghurt Ice Cream @ RM2.00

We stopped by Sugarbun for ice-cream. They were selling the new flavour, YOGHURT (which was typo error there). The lady serving us was promoting the new flavour and kept persuading me to try.

Nuff said, her persuasion succeeded. I bought myself a RM2 yoghurt ice cream while bro didn’t want to risk it, stick with the RM1.50 original ice cream.

The yoghurt ice cream is tasty and yoghurtish. It’s like eating yoghurt itself, just colder and more fattening. It’s a bit sour, sour like yoghurt. It’s still soft and smooth like the regular ice cream. The portion is still the same despite the extra 50 cents.

Plus, a new KTV centre, KBOX Embassy KTV, in town. Oh yea oh yea.. Star Rising time. In case we lack of rain, I can go over and sing for rain. LOL!! My guess, the KTV will probably be ready before Christmas. So, at the time being, let’s practice in Meetoto first. Hahahaha!!

Anyway, at least the new cinema is opening. Just a matter of time only. I’m going to get the MBO membership cards tomorrow – main factor that attracts me to get it is the free goodies. LOL!!

Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang @ RM7.20

Regular nasi lemak is RM3.80, with chicken is RM6.80 and an extra 40 cents will get yourself a beef rendang to go with your nasi lemak. The beef rendang is delicious. Absolutely love their rendang. The nasi lemak is just ok.

Everyone has been talking about the new cinema. Even the Spring is excited about it. There are posters about the Grand Preview at every wing. Also, stated on it are “Exciting New Tenants”. Hey hey..  More new outlets to look out for. Huehuehue..

Instead of heading towards Ta Kiong, we made a detour to 2nd floor. Upon reaching the escalator to the next level, I saw this:

Oh yeah oh yeahhhh!! Can’t wait!! Oh man.. I can foresee that this year’s Christmas shopping is going to be crazy! Must save up for shopping. More new outlets opening, more money to spend.

When we turned to the escalator, Dang! GG dot com. It’s “yellowsied”. Guess, we have to be patient and wait till August 19, 2009 for the Grand Preview.

So, our next movie night out will be at MBO, right right right? G.I. JOE or Horror Movie?

Homecook Chapati

All you need:

- Any type of frozen chapati/roti canai/pratha of your choice [DO NOT DEFROST THE BREAD! Once the bread is defrost-ed, it is difficult to peel of the plastic sheet from the bread.]

- A packet of ready to cook curry paste of your choice.

Methods:

Prepare the curry first. This can be any type of curry of your choice. I would recommend the the “Hari-Hari Favourites” Curry Paste from Maggi. It’s SPICEHHH! Kinda up to my expectations. Also because Mum cooked it. Hahaha..

Tips: Add in Kacang Dhal for that extra "mamakness"

Cook lots and lots of the sauce and pack them in containers, keep them in the freezer. So, when you want to have some chapati in the mid of the night, you can just take it out, heat the curry and chapati and enjoy it within minutes.

As for the Chapati, it’s VERY EASY to prepare. The simplest thing to cook! Just heat up the pan, no oil needed. Place  the frozen chapati on the pan and wait for it to be CRISPY. Here’s an example:

From this video, you can see that the chapati is not very “hard”, not fully frozen because it was left outside room temperature for quite sometime. So, it became sticky to the plastic sheet.

Tips: Keep the chapati in the freezer at all time. When you’re ready to heat the next piece, then take it out and heat it right away.

Next, when the bottom part of the chapati is slightly golden brown, you can tell, when the whole piece is not “stuck” on the pan. Now is the time to flip it and heat the other side. Watch me flip it:

There were sales everywhere!! Hate sales. It is that time of sales that I would spend the most. MNG sales is a killer. Luckily, I walked out with just 2 tops; a black half body length long sleeves cardi and a blue three quart (bought this blue because I don’t have this type of blue top in my storeroom). Then, I bought a Tee from BodyGlove with Gladys.

Spending money did not just stop on clothing. There were crazee promos in Ta Kiong. For example, a packet of Lays was sold at RM8.95 for non members and RM7.95 for members. Normal price is RM9.95. Ugh..

Yay!! It’s the weekend already. But I have to work on Saturdays throughout this month. Well, it’s okay since it’s only half day. Teehee..

Oh.. Last night, I went to tHe Spring with a girl to accompany a fella to shop for ingredients. Anyway, I bought myself a packet of Lay’s Vinegar & Salt. Price increased! Used to be RM9.20. Now it’s RM9.95! That’s an increase of 8%! Grrr..

Dated Evey for dinner, since we were barter-trading something…………you no need to know.
