Here’s the funny part. How come the Chicken Rice Salad’s sauce looks more Orangey than the Orange Mayo Rice? hahaha..

The chicken for both the Orange Chicken Mayo Rice and Chicken Salad Rice are the same. Deep fried chicken with different sauce on it only.

This is what I ordered, the Pork Salad Rice. Porkie porkie porkie! :3 The pork fillet is deep fried and topped with salad sauce. Love the porkieness. It’s chewy and crispy on the outside. Plus, the salad sauce is not bad. But the meat is a bit too hard for my liking, slightly tender would be the best already.

The Fusion Cafe

The Fusion Cafe is a new cafe in town and currently my favourite place for my dosage of 3 layer pork cravings. Years back, the cafe was known as Red Tea House and years later, they changed management to some stir fry cafe and today,  it is The Fusion Cafe. The Fusion Cafe is located in Jalan Song Thian Cheok, just somewhere near MAS building.

Parking is convenient during the evening. During the day, to get a parking slot in the city centre will depend on your luck, unless you park in Taman Kereta or in Tun Jugah’s basement parking.

The Fusion Cafe operates 14 hours daily (10am – 12 midnight) and closes on every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the Month.

The Fusion Cafe is a nice place to chill out,  gossiping chit chatting, catching up with friends, etc. The place is air-conditioned and complimented with ceiling fans, whilst the doors are always open. Hence, the place is never too hot nor too cold, just cooling.

The wall is painted soft pink and decorated with wall stickers. Very simple yet unique and creative. I like the one with the girl walking with the dog. (Can I bring home the poodle?) hehehe…

Well, I was at The Fusion Cafe with Kevin, Jess and  Albert (aka AhBird) for dinner. Thanks to Sharon for the great treat We enjoyed the food and drinks lots.

I’m impressed with their menu. There are varieties of drinks to choose from. From milk tea (recipe brought down from Red Tea House) to fruit juice  to iced tea  to beer. And of course,  they have their very own created special fruit punch:

#69 Paradise @ RM4.50

Paradise is #69 in the menu. It is a mixture of Lemon juice, soda and fresh strawberries. It is a refreshing and cooling drink, with a tinge of taste.

Soda Blackcurrant Lemon is #68 in the menu. It is a mixture of soda and blackcurrant syrup (I presume it is Ribena) and topped with a few slices of lemon.

Unlike other cafes which serve Early Grey Tea, English Tea, Boh tea, Lipton tea, etc tea bag, here in The Fusion Cafe, you get to taste a variety of hot healthy  flower tea.

The Plum Flower Tea is a mixture of Plum, red jujube, longan, hawthorn, licorice, mysotis and marigold. Don’t look at me, I have no idea what they are except for Plum. The plum is the round item at the bottom of the teapot filter, whilst the tea is at the top.

The porkie is served with fresh crunchy cucumber and sambal belacan. The sambal belacan is sedap lagi enak (delicious condiment: chili based sauce with belacan) but not spicy enough for me.

We went to Life Cafe, Brighton Square for our late dinner/supper.

Earth Hour at Life Cafe

When we arrived, it was very romantic inside the Life Cafe. Seems like the Life Cafe is also participating in the Earth Hour “Shut it Down”. They switched off the lights and only the lantern lights were switched on. The lantern lights were really dim and we can barely read a single letter from the menu. Had to use our mobile phone’s torch light to read the menu and check on the order form.

While waiting for our food, we had pinches and bites from my leftover snacks, Lays – Stax: Salt & Vinegar.

Again, these shots are taken with LanMao (500D) and I have the option to use the Speedlight 580EX II on it but that would ruin the whole “darkness” feel. teehee.. So, I used my Nokia 5800’s torch light to give it some “edgy” brightness.

Caramel Pudding Cake

Kie ordered this caramel pudding cake or something like that. Looks good to me, but according to him, the base is not that nice.

Cafe Ch@t is Pullman Kuching’s in-house cafe. It is situated on the ground floor of the hotel, and easily spotted from the lobby.

The cafe starts operating early in the morning, and closes very early in the evening as well. Luckily we were there an hour earlier before their closing time. Even though the cafe closes early, we could still chill in the cafe while drinking our drinks. If you plan to chill at the cafe, be sure to get your drinks ordered and paid before the counter closes.

The seatings are pretty comfy and cozy. Gladys, Yien and I sat on the couch. So we were facing this side of the cafe.

The cafe mainly serves beverages, cakes and pastries only. However, if you feel like having a bite of food, you can also order something from Puzzle and enjoy it in the cafe.

We ordered salad. Waited for quite sometime until the waitress came and informed us that they ran out of salad. o.O!!!

It was our first time trying out Cafe Ch@t that evening. We asked for recommendations on their specialties and the waitress kept recommending their Cafe Mocha.

Since the waitress kept recommending the Cafe Mocha, I decided to give it a try.

Verdict: I should have ordered something else with more coffee. The mocha is too mild.

Recommendation: For coffee lovers, you may need to request for an extra shot of Espresso for the mocha.

Iced Blended Vanilla @ RM13

Yien ordered the Iced Blended Vanilla and a sip of it will give you the image of Toothfairy. It is very sweet! Too sweet for our liking.

Iced Flavoured Latte - Hazelnut @ RM12

Gladys had the Iced Flavoured Latte with Hazelnut syrup as recommended by the waitress. Yet, another mild drink. LOL

There was a tad taste of hazelnut and the latte, well, brown milk tea sounds good for you?

The drinks need lots of improvement and I believe they are improving. To be frank, the drinks are too ordinary. They need to have their own signature drink and special drinks to make their menu more interesting. Add the curiosity to customers taste bud and at the same time compliments the taste of coffee/tea.

If you compare the prices with other cafe, they are similar. But tastewise, seriously need to improve.

All prices are subject to services charge and government tax. These extra charges are pain in a**. Won’t mind paying them if the service is as equivalent.

Fresh Cup Coffee

At first, I thought that it is a franchise cafe but it is local. The coffee beans are imported from Indonesia and they do supply coffee powder and coffee bean apart from just serving coffee to customers in cups.

The environment is really suitable for those who love to gossip over a cup of coffee enjoys coffee and chit chat with friends, business meet ups and group gathering.

It is also suitable for couple to pak toh (dating). To some people, like me, it is also a suitable place to study. Well, the songs they played are soft and not that loud and noisy.

My first visit here was with my classmate. We went there for revision since the college’s library was not opened during a WEEKDAY.

Mocha Latte

My classmate, Lydia is a mocha freak! When we go to IpohTown Kopitiam, she would order the white coffee mocha. When we were in Fresh Cup, she ordered the Mocha Latte.

Lydia enjoyed the mocha latte here. She said that the mocha itself is sweet enough from the chocolate taste.

Machiato Latte

I had the Machiato Latte. I find it too much milk for my liking and the coffee taste is very much covered by the milk. For those who prefer more kick of coffee, I recommend that you request for an extra shot for this.

Cappuccino Cake

On my first visit, I got a free complimentary Cappuccino Cake. Many thanks to Fresh Cup Coffee.

My second visit was with the gang (some couldn’t make it due to other commitments).

Caramel Brandy Coffee

The Caramel Brandy Coffee is very unique and my favourite among all they have in their menu. The coffee has a twist of brandy and sweet caramel taste.  A great combination and it is simply superb!

Brown sugar or raw sugar is best to go with your coffee. It enriches the coffee taste and less sweet PLUS it is healthier.

Apart from just coffee, they do serve ice coffee, ice lattes, etc ice ice babeh… They also have smoothies.

All the drinks, be it hot or cold, they range from RM9 – RM15. It’s reasonably priced as the drinks come in big cups and glasses. Plus, the ambiance is simple and cozy. Furthermore, they have magazines and board games for you and I to occupy ourselves while enjoying a Fresh Cup of Coffee.

Today, I get to enjoy the freshly brewed Oldtown White Coffee while I shake leg sit back and relax because Kuching now has an outlet of Oldtown White Coffee in Kuching International Airport!

The kopitiam is situated at level 1 (ground floor) of the airport. It is just several meters away from the arrival gate. A good spot for a cup of  authentic taste of  white coffee while waiting for the arrival of your loved ones.

The interior is a mixture of kopitiam and cafe style. The tables and chairs are  the “back in the days” and of marble and wood material. There are also the modern chic comfy seating by the wall.

This is my first visit to Oldtown and I’m impressed with the place.

But the place just lack of the coffee aroma. I mean, since white coffee is brewed here, a tease of coffee aroma would bring in the mood for coffee.

When the coffee sat in front of me, I was like “Wooooh!! Freshly brewed white coffee. Not the instant one. Surely it must taste more ooomph!”

For an authentic taste of coffee, it is usually served in ceramic cup. Even the spoon also ceramic. It is said that ceramic absorb the flavour and you naturally preserved the flavour in it. Something I learnt back in the olden days.  Nowadays, we can hardly find coffeeshops which serve coffee in ceramic cups. Mostly in glasses.

RM4.50 a cup of local coffee is crazy. But it’s a franchised brand kopitiam, still reasonable.

When I took a sip of the white coffee, I wanted to cry that instant. Cry not because I finally get a taste of fresh white coffee, but because it was soooooooooooooo sweet!

Like uber uber uber sweet. The sweetness covered the coffee taste and it’s like drinking a cup of hot sweet milk T______________T

Anyway, we just “enjoyed” our coffee and fool around a bit while waiting for Datin’s arrival.

The banana choco freak was so aware about the nutrition facts a glass of Ice Blended Banana Chocolate contains, which would put her gymfort (gym effort) that evening to waste.

Gladys always have this Ice Blended Red Mango. She visits Bing when she craves for a big glass of Red Mango! Knowing my dilemma of not putting my gymfort (gym effort) to waste, she recommended me to try her favourite Red Mango.

The Red Mango consists of the ice blended fresh sweet juicy mango with strawberry compote, hence the RED (strawberry) Mango.

Taste: It’s sweet, mango sweet and slightly sourish taste from the fruit compote.

I was reluctant at first, but decided to give it a try. Boy, was I glad that I had this. The Red Mango is really superb! Love it very much and I guess Banana Chocolate will be the “occasional” ice blended drink from now onwards.

Located in Brighton Square,  Jalan Song. Where is this Brighton Square? Look out for Titanium building, you’ll find Brighton Square it’s adjacent to it.

Fact is, we (classmates and I) have been eyeing and waiting patiently for the kopitiam to open.

The smell of it is nutty and creamy. To me, I think there’s too much milk. =/ Too milky till the taste of the coffee got covered up. Personally, the coffee is not strong enough for my liking. Perhaps the next visit, I’ll try the Ipoh Town Kopi O, fifty cents cheaper. LOL!

Ordered one of their “Thumbs up” item in the menu, ham and cheese sandwich. The crispy brown bread with cheddar cheese and ham slice in it. Two pieces of sandwich, cut in halves. Can share it with another 3 friends.

Rose ordered this, butter milk polo bun, another “Thumbs Up” item. There’s a whole piece of butter inside the polo bun! It’s not bad, but I still prefer my sandwich – more flavourful XD

On Tuesday, I thought I have evening class but the gold fish brain of mine forgotten that class was replaced on Sunday. *Slaps forehead* So, I had the evening to “enjoy while I still can”. Cooked Spaghetti Bolognese for dinner. Of course, it was superb!

Snapped this before going to class. IpohTown Cafe is opening soon. To date, the signage is up already and they are recruiting waiter/waitresses, bartender, kitchen helper, cashier and etc.. All man power they need to open up. Can’t wait for them to open. By then, I can grab a cup of coffee before attending class. Perhaps even dinner! Also, can supper after class! Fuhh!! Convenient chinz..

Darrel posted on plurk that he’s now a chicken rice seller. At first, we all thought he was just joking. Partnering with Bryan, now I have a new place to go for lunch as it is in the area. The chicken rice is superb, wait till you try the baby kailan!

My third or fourth visit to CoffeeBean in Cold Storage. Never liked it there because they close early at 10pm. The service is incredibly “great“! There were two fellas working there. One of them laughs/giggles/psycho non-stop, overblend the drinks (by the time you get your drink, it’s WATER BLENDED not even ICY!) and it creeps me to see the cakes displayed, looked like there were there for days! You can tell how dry and how “old” they are there by the look of it. o_O!! By the way, that’s Mango CheeseCake. It’s stone hard and only the mid is QUITE moist. They wanted to try it even when I told them that it looked like it has been there for days.

Paid a visit (make that two) to a new cafe in town, 175° Cafe (formerly Tao) for lunch and dinner on the same day! Love the concept they have. Free Fish Spa and Wifi when dine/chill/hangout in the cafe. We spent hours in the fish pond when each person is entitled to 15 minutes only!

Few months back, we started meeting up for dinner on every first of the month. The “WE” are friends who attended the same high school, been in the same class for many years – in short, close friends back in high school. Ever since we graduated from high school, we got separated. Everyone went to pursue their future path and we stay in touch via online, SMS and phone calls. So, this monthly meet up is a way of getting back together, catching up and keeping our friendship fresh and strong.

For July 1st, 2009, we had our meet up at Kado Cafe and this round only me, Yomi and Feli (came back for holidays before going back to the Peninsula to proceed on her project. All the best, girl!), while Angel and ahGe couldn’t make it.

Kado Cafe is located in Jalan Padungan. If you know where Kingwood Inn Hotel, EON Bank and Public Bank are located, then, it’s a bonus for you to find Kado Cafe.

The cafe is located behind those buildings. Kado Cafe’s building is orange in color, so, once you make the turn in, just tilt your head up to catch the orange building.

Many people thought that Kado Cafe is on ground floor when it actually is located on the 1st floor. Just park near the corner coffeeshop of the orange building. There’s a staircase with Kado Cafe’s signage.

Upon entering the cafe, you’ll get this view. With wooden tables and chairs, some curtains as separators and dim lighting. The ambiance is pretty comfy and romantic once you walk in.

Once you get into the inner side of the cafe, you’ll get these cozy and homey seatings which gives the relaxing and comfortable and the “make yourself at home” feeling.

One irritating thing about the inner inside is that, it is located near the drinks making counter. So, when the bartender makes drink mixes with the blender or juicer, it’s very loud and noisy and we have to start talking loudly when that happens.

Ice Green Tea; Watermelon Juice & sugar syrup; Warm Green Tea

The green teas (RM2.00) are like those “bubble jasmine green/red tea” you get from Taiwanese fusion cafe (eg: Jade Tea Pot House, Taipei 101, Ting Noodle House, etc). The watermelon juice (RM3.00) is freshly “squeezed” and they didn’t add sugar or flavourings in the juice. They serve a small shot glass of sugar syrup with the juice for you to add into your juice for sweeter taste at your own choice.

Kado Lamb Curry Rice @ RM6.90

I ordered the curry lamb. The lamb curry is superb! The lamb meat is tender and soft but not too soft. Must love the potatoes. Has the curry taste in it and lambness. woo~ Although it’s not very spicy, but definitely a thumbs up for its taste. RM6.90 for this platter is definitely worth it!

Kado Chicken Chop Rice @ RM6.90

Yomi had the Kado Chicken Chop Rice. At first I thought the chicken is grilled like the chicken chop but it turned out to be just deep fried chicken fillet served with mushroom sauce. LoL! Nontheless, it’s still yummy. I had a piece of it and although the meat is deep fried, the chicken is yet tender and juicy.

Kado Mixed Rice @ RM6.90 each

There are varieties of Kado Mixed Rice from Chicken to Lamb to Fish. Each served with an egg omelette, pickled cabbage and carrots, and steamed white rice.

Kado Handmade Lamb Burger @ RM6.50

Feli on the other hand, didn’t want to have any rice for dinner. So she ordered the Kado Handmade Lamb Burger. I thought that at the price of RM6.50, the burger would come with at least 5 fingers of fries but nope, just the burger itself. Personally feels the price for the burger is a little expensive but according to Feli, it’s pretty good. But I still thinks it’s overpriced for a small thin slice of handmade (especially handmade burger, the meat is always thicker) lamb burger.

French Fries @ RM6.00

After our dinner, Feli suggested that we order some finger food or snacks to go along with our chit chat session. We ordered the french fries. For some reason, I wished I was at McDonald’s for fries instead. =X

Ehon and AhGe both ordered Passion Fruit Juice, while I ordered Guava Juice. I wanted Peach Juice but it was not available. =( Anyway, my Guava Juice turned out to be Passion Fruit. Swt…

When my drink was served, I looked at it, then looked at Ehon and Ahge’s, then mine again. Same colour orh.. *Sip Sip* Tasted like Olen.. *Sip Sip* AhGe’s Tastes the same. Then AhGe and Ehon *Sip Sip* mine. Sah Confirm not Guava Juice, it was the same as theirs, Passion Fruit Juice @ RM5. Do I look like I need more PASSION?

Cakes:

Ehon’s Triple Chocolate Cheese Cake @ RM9.50. The cake is served in a Square plate with cocoa powder sprinkled around it as decoration. The very bottom of the cake is Chocolate crust is very thin and you don’t get full just by eating the crust. The cake is very cheesey creamy and very rich.

Angel’s Baked Chocolate Cheese Cake @ RM7.95 is very very good. I must say as a chocolate lover, I LAFU this cake very much. The rich-chocolatey-cheesy-moosey-ness of the cake melts smoothly in your mouth and after each bite, you’d seek for more. Ish geram.. Craving for one right now. =/

Sam’s Coco Napoleon @ RM10.50 has few layers or different chockie tastes. According to Sam, the second layer tasted like Ferrero Roche. So, I “Go Go Gadget hand” went over to grab a small bite of her cake. Indeed it tasted like Ferrero Roche. Simply because it’s Hazelty.

My New York Cheese Cake @ RM7.95 is very very rich and cheesy. It’s so cheesy that I was full after 3/4 of the cake. Felt a bit gelik after that. The top layer is Lemon Glaze which gives a little sour-zesty-ness to the cheese cake. I would prefer a spoonful of fruit parfait along the cheese cake. At least, you won’t feel so gelik.

AhGe’s Mushroom Pasta @ RM 17.50, which looked like Spaghetti Carbonara, just more diluted and not as creamy. It has 5 types of mushroom in it. From Button mushroom to Clam mushroom.

The Angel ordered this Peanut Butter Toast or Fried Bread. Err.. Something bread and peanut butter la.

Looks like the bread is fried then kiap together and topped with kilos of butter.

Peanuts are all in between the breads. The breads are kiap together with the well, Peanut and Butter. The Angel said that it’s oily and fatty. Couldn’t agree more. See also feel fat. @@

The Banana was so so hot! Phewwiittt~ She had a bottle of Honey Plum Lime. Refreshing~~~

Oh btw, the Angel had Ice Milk Tea aka Teh C Peng. No picture cause the Angel so thirsty! When I took a picture of my Honey Plum Lime, she finished her drink already. Pif

Banana want to try something special in Fishland. The first visit to Fishland, Banana didn’t order anything in particular except the Kiwi something Tea (yerks) and 3 Ghosts Eyes (Sounds cool but errr). So yea..

The Nissin Szechuan Pork is quite disappointing. The Szechuan is saltyless and the noodles are tasteless. It tastes like those boiled Lee Fah Mee and porky then mixed with soy sauce and oil. Should have ordered Spicy Ramen.

Maybe should try something like the Guan Chai (Coffin) next time..

Korean Da Om BBQ House is a Korean cafe operated by Koreans. It is located at Jalan Song opposite the Friendship Park (Taman Sahabat).

The place is very homey and I like what they did to their ceiling.

I heard her speaking Korean with her son and daughter (I think). Also with some of her friends who came over later. Korean language is beautiful. Deh?

See the picture, there’s an entrance next to the poster there. Inside there is the traditional korean table setting whereby you sit on the floor and eating on the kontot table. This is only applicable if you have a big group dining here at Da Om.

Angel and I were very hungry. So, we shared order (order big big, share together, pay together).

Drinks came first. Oh, I didn’t order any special korean tea because I was very hot and thirsty. Green Tea by Yeo’s is my favourite. No no to Sundrop Green Tea, no quality control at all. =/

Anyway, side dishes came right after the drinks. I took out my phone and with Angel’s help, we arranged them and I start kacheeking away.

We started to nibble some of the dishes while waiting for the maincourse.

We didn’t really eat the lotus seeds (not sure if that’s what you call it, but I always see that in Lat). I tried a piece. It’s crispy and sweet but I don’t like it. Ohoh.. The Ikan Bilis is SUPERB!! The Kimchi tastes too fresh, not fermented enough. It’s not stinky and it’s not very spicy but I still like it because it’s kimchi. XDD

This is one HUGE bowl of Korean Ra Myen! It’s bigger than my head. Serious!

The Ra Myen set @ RM6.00 comes with Spinach and Kimchi.

What does it tastes like? Well, it tastes exactly like those Korean Ramen Spicy Flavour you can buy from the Supermarket (Choice Daily). Here they prepare it special a bit. They add in egg, onions and spring onions. I liked it very much as I enjoy eating Korean Ramen. Sometimes, I do buy Korean Ramen and cook them for supper.

Sam Gyp Sal set @ RM20.00 inclusive of the 4 Side dishes, bean paste and sesame oil

Sam Gyep Sal in Korean means 3 layers pork (san chen ruo) BBQ. It’s supposed to be the DIY BBQ but since they offered to BBQ for us, so it would be better. Incase we didn’t BBQ good enough, we might be eating raw Sam Gyep Sal and we might also burnt our hand during the process. Also, we would smell like BBQ so it’s better that the chef BBQ the Sam Gyep Sal for us.=) If there were more than the two of us, it would be fun to BBQ the porky ourselves.

First of all, take the lettuce, lay it on your palm. Next, dip the porky into the bean paste and place it on the lettuce. Apply some sesame oil and add in some Ikan Bilis.

Wrap the inti as shown as above. Next, open your mouth wide enough to stuff the wrap into your mouth and give it a good chew. Indulge the tasty bean paste, the juicy porky, the yummy ikan bilis and the fragrance from the sesame oil.

I would like to come here again, but with a big group so we can enjoy the inside seating. ^^
