A friend shared a picture of this delicious looking seafood tom yum noodle on Facebook and I enquired of the whereabouts and did a bit of research online.
There were many positive feedbacks about this place, Yu Ai which sells Seafood noodles (Seafood Curry Mee, Seafood Tom Yum, Fish Head Noodles, Fish cakes, etc..). So, we decided to give it a try over the weekend. We used Waze to locate the place and it was so easy, just search for “Yu Ai” on Foursquare tab in Waze and off we went.
Facing the road, you don’t find any heat and excitement out from this shop…not until you reach the entrance. You can already feel the heat, bizarre heat from stove.
Cooking at least 6 pots of noodles at once! Check out the blazing fire!!
Ready soup base for the noodles. From here, you can tell what soup each pot is.
There are 3 seatings to choose from (provided you have a choice), ground floor indoor where you eat in sauna, outdoor which is cooler with the morning breeze (or afternoon breeze, it’s not hot because got trees as shade), or upstairs where there’s aircond. We chose to sit indoor at first because I want to watch them in action with all the pots and fire, sat there for a few seconds already beh tahan (can’t take it). The heat is just too much to take, so we shifted up. Heh.. So much for being cheeky lah.
Seafood Tom Yum Noodle (small) @ RM17
I had Seafood Tom Yum Meehoon while Bok had the Seafood Curry Meehoon Mee (a mixture of yellow egg noodle and vermicelli).
MINE IS THE BOMB!
Seafood Curry Mee (small) @ RM17
The Curry is so sweet (for me). Especially after having the tom yum, the curry tasted very sweet.
This is not your average seafood noodle as it is so much more expensive, RM17 for small and RM19 for a large bowl. Despite the expensive price to pay for, the portion of seafood is pretty generous. We had a lot of Lala (clams), Mussels, Cuttlefish, few slices of fresh Salmon and 3 big pieces of Prawns. Tastewise, the tom yum is generally good and flavourful. If only the spicy level can be increased slightly more, it would be even better. Heeee.. As for the curry noodle, there’s nothing to shout about. I’ve read numerous comments on Foursquare that the Fish Head noodles is not good at all (rephrasing it in better words).
On another note, they use a lot of MSG. I became a fish after eating here (so very thirsty and keep drinking water).
I don’t mind coming back again for a piping hot bowl of seafood tom yum noodle, of course in time to come. Can’t patronize this place so often, not only will get high cholestrol but also broke eh.
