We were on our way to One Utama and we stopped by Restoran OK in TTDI for breakfast. This coffee shop is famed for its Char Koay Teow. There are also other stalls that sell Ipoh noodles, wanton noodles, and what not noodles. As I walked in, I noticed this stall which sells Sarawak (Kuching) Kolo Mee.
This must be a new stall because the last time I was here I didn’t see it. Heh.. so, I ordered a bowl of Kolo Mee in Hokkien but the fella replied me in Cantonese. *gasps*
I was skeptical at first when my Kolo Mee was served with cili padi with soy sauce, seaweed soup and pale char sio (BBQ pork). Kuching Kolo Mee is usually served with chili in vinegar and very amazing char sio.
The thinly sliced char sio lacks the char-sio-ness but it’s tender and not the overly dry albeit it’s all lean meat.
The first bite into the Kolo Mee proves me wrong. i shall eat my ownerupts forsaying the Kolo Mee tak ori forest glance. Never judge a book by its cover.
This Kolo mee is as authentic as the ones u get in Kuching minus all the extra stuffs like fish cakes and seaweed soup. Those are extra stuffs that comes with the Kolo Mee. For RM5 a bowl, this Sarawak Kolo Mee is reasonably good.
