Ruaikitai Tribal Cafe and Restaurant

Ruaikitai Tribal Cafe & Restaurant is located in Jalan Green Hill, situated right behind Blablabla Restaurant, beneath Borneo B&B.

It is a local pub operated by an Iban fella. Ruaikitai in Iban means “our living room”. The ambience is homey and has the native, tribal, back to nature type of feel. The interior furnishings and decor are of antiques and the place is environmental friendly. It’s not air-conditioned and it’s not hot even in this hot weather.

The crowd from inside out

Last weekend, there was an event over at Ruaikitai and we went mainly to watch Alex Wong (STM) perform with his Emergency formed band (last minute recruited), bassist – Morgan and guitarist – Edwin.

Big crowd

The whole place was packed when we arrived (9.20pm) and there were a lot of foreigners. Met a few familiar faces there too. *waves at Cletus*

Inactive people - very much in their own world =x

Why inactive? Because there’s this song written by Alex called “Fly” and you’re suppose to spread your hand like wings  and put your hands high in the air when you hear the keywords “fly” and p “sky”. Only few of us participated.

There were other performers who performed that evening. Among them, were:

Alex Chai and Bertram

Bertram from Australia

Andrew Garton

Alex Wong taking a shot of Tequila

That evening, there were the Tequila promo – RM3.00 per shot!! The man in Mexican hat walking around with a bottle of tequila in one hand and shot glass in the other. He was selling like hot cakes. Alex Wong went for a shot. He encouraged the crowd to drink more, “The more you drink, the better we sound.” lol..

Alex and Edwin heating up the atmosphere

Somewhere in the mid of the performance, Alex Chai came out with chocolate cake and Alex Wong sang the birthday song while the crowd sang along.
