Thanks to Samsung Malaysia and Manoah Consulting for the exclusive invitation to Red Bean Bun Baking Workshop to make red bean buns as seen in the web series Wind Chimes in a Bakery. I have been following Wind Chimes in a Bakery for weeks already and it was an honour to meet and get upclose with the stars from the series, Adam (Ahmad Nabil) and Sue (Koe Yeet).

Wind Chimes in a Bakery is a Korean-inspired love story brought to life by Samsung and in collaboration with Korean director, Jang Jae Hyeok (director of Wonder Girls’ Nobody MTV. The series features Samsung GALAXY S4 which highlights its design to be the perfect Life Companion.
If you haven’t watch the series yet and not sure what it is about, hop over here and start catching up! The story is about Adam (Ahmad Nabil Mahir), a boy with nothing but a dream and a girl, Sue (Koe Yeet) with everything but love. After a tragedy in Sue’s life, Adam recalls the best moments they had together. There are so much suspense towards the end of each episode *grumbles* and it makes you impossibly patient for next episode!
Now, back to the workshop. The baking workshop took place at 19 Culinary Studio, Damansara Heights. It’s actually a house and part of it is converted into workshop studio suitable to conduct culinary workshops.

The place was decorated and themed with “Wind Chimes in a Bakery”. There were a lot of photo frames and pictures from the web series.

While waiting for the workshop to begin, we were seated in the living room which was very homey and cozy. Alongside, there were light refreshments of homemade pastries and coffee to keep us filled up. Of course, not forgeting the red bean bun.

Ingredients and tools
As reference, we didn’t need to refer to recipe on papers and flipping them with our floured hands. Instead, we had the privilege to refer them on Samsung GALAXY S4 and with the device unique feature of air gesture, we didn’t need to touch the phone with our hands with fear to dirty the screen.
Both Koe Yeet and Nabil excited to start baking.

Add milk, vegetable oil and sugar in a medium saucepan.
Heat the mixture over medium fire and cook to before boil. In other words, hot enough but not boiling hot.
Sift 8 cups of flour into the mixture and stir the ingredients until well combined.
Cover the mixture and let it rest for 1 hour. After that, add in the remaining 1 cup of flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Again, set aside to rest for 5 minutes.
Once the dough has rested enough, the dough was divided into small rolls at 65g each. Tables were dusted with flour to get the rolls flatten, filled with red bean paste and shaped for baking. The top of each buns were brushed with a layer of egg yolk and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Watch the process here:

The studio was then filled with aromatic bun fragrant and each red bean bun turned out perfect and golden brown. The buns were best eaten while hot. Soft and fluffy and sweet on the inside. <3

It was a great event as I get to know and get up close with both Koe Yeet and Nabil. Although both of them have very different personalities, they are both very friendly. Koe Yeet is very bubbly and outspoken. At the same time cute, charismatic and naughty! Whereas Nabil is quiet and shy.
