This is the first week of the holy month of Ramadhan. I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy Ramadhan!

The Food Tree Restaurant by Only World Group (OWG) is located in Glenmarie which is one of Shah Alam’s prime commercial and residential areas. The Food Tree offers a wide range of local and western delicacies, featuring home-made noodles from “Only Mee” and delicate dim sum from “Shanghai 10″, both their very own franchises outlets.

Seating capacity up to 400 persons.
The Food Tree Restaurant has 7 function rooms which is perfect for meetings, events, banquet functions and gatherings. The function rooms are also provided with full conference facilities, free wifi and a special VIP room for press conferences and private functions. Quite an ideal setup for meetings outside office!

The Ramadhan buffet features not only authentic Malay cuisines but also other international cuisines. Here are the main highlighted Malay cuisines we had the other night:
Appetizers

Ulam
Ulam is a local traditional Malay salad which comes in various types of raw vegetables such as cucumber, tomato, petai (stinky beans), leaves of veggies, and eatten with anchovies or shrimp paste. I love ulam! Especially crispy cucumbers dipped in spicy sambal belacan! Yums <3
Apart from Ulam, there are various types of local salad such as:

Kerabu Pucuk-Paku

Kerabu Kacang Botol

Kerabu Taugeh & Kerang
Main Courses

Nasi Briyani
You will always find Nasi Briyani in every Ramadhan buffet. Best eaten with their spicy thick gravy mains..

Ayam Tandoori

Ayam Percik

Ikan Bakar

Spicy Condiments

Sup Tulang

Mutton Rogan Josh

Siput Sedut Masak Cili Api

Singapore Chili Crab

Ikan Masak Assam Kari

Lamb Kabsa
This is one Middle Eastern cuisine. The succulent lamb served with fragrant rice and sauce. Yums~
Desserts
Everyone’s favourite, for the sweet toothy~

Bubur Cha Cha
Hot warm dessert after a feastful meal.

Local tropical fruits
Fresh local tropical fruits to balance the digestive system

Ais Kacang
Every Ramadhan buffet I’ve been to has Ais Kacang and it is like the ideal signature must have dessert. Nuff said, this is superb.

Mango Ice
Another ice dessert which I find neutrally nice.

Tadpole Mango Dessert with Ice Cream
This tadpole mango dessert with ice cream is my favourite among all the 3 above.
Special Drinks
These are the special drinks specially created by Food Tree Restaurant Chefs and a must have when dining here!

Honey Cucumber
The Honey Cucumber is refreshingly unique drink. A nice combination of fresh cucumber and sweet honey with a zest of lemon! We love this to bits and we had a few rounds of this drink.

Coconut Shake @ RM7.90
Dim Sum
Apart from authentic Malay cuisine, Food Tree Restaurant included some Chinese delicacies such of dim sum to add in the multicultural taste in the Ramadhan buffet. For the benefits of our Muslim friends, these dim sums are pork free and tastes superb!

Siu Mai (dumplings)

Xiao Long Bao (Shanghai Double Boiled Soup Dumplings)

Shrimp Dumpling with Crab Roe

Yam Shanghai Mooncake

Avocado with Kataifi
Mooncake Making Demonstration
During our dinner, there was a special Snow Skin Mooncake making demonstration by Chef Chee.

Then, both Evelyn and Choulyin had a hands on in making Snow Skin Mooncake
Because both of them wanted to try making, so, they went up together and working together to make one snow skin mooncake. It was funny watching them both trying to coordinate as left and right hand. Nonetheless, they made a good snow skin mooncake *thumbs up*
DURIAN PANCAKES

When this was served on the table, it immediately reminded me of the Durian Pancakes I love from Sumptuous Desserts.

D24 durian filling with cream, wrapped in thin pancake. YUMS!
Note: This is only available in their ala carte menu and not in the Ramadhan buffet line.
Now, to sum it all up, Food Tree Restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes for this Ramadhan Buffet. Of course, there are rotation of menu to keep the menu fresh and if you were to go everyday, you get to taste different dishes everyday :

Hahahahaha!! I miss going for food reviews with you and the other -lings! I find the restauraneurs and PR here more open minded than in Kuching’s (still quite kotak). If there’s anything u feel needs improvement can straight away inform them and they’ll take it positively.
Give them some time lah.. hahaha..
U DON’T CINCAI RETIRE FROM BLOGGING AH!
