Pullman Kuching with Hills Shopping Mall
The sky today is beautiful. Enjoy while you still can. lol
Guess every Kuchingkia knows about the tall white building in town. It’s a new hotel, Pullman Kuching, sitting at the top of the hill, several footsteps away from Kuching High and also a short walk away towards Hilton Hotel and Riverside Majestic.

View from Bukit Mata Kucing
Remember in my previous post, I mentioned something about crazy shopping for Christmas?
There’s also a new shopping mall, Hills Shopping Mall, attached to the newly built hotel. Well well, what do you know, another mall to add in our craze

when it opens ho?? Can’t wait… I heard Famous Amos will be here in this building… Can’t wait!!!!

Is there any confirm news about BASKIN ROBIN,s ? Will it really open in Hills Mall ?
And i saw a long walk with fans on the ceiling, just outside the mall near the hotel entrance, is the place ready for coffee shops ? WOW, it should be great if i am right, it should be look near to KLCC Starbucks & Dome’s outside area which is apposite the big garden, though we don’t have that big garden.

Am not sure about that.. The press release didn’t state much about what shops will be operating in there. I only know there will be McDonald’s and Sushi King.

Accodrding to the write-up in The Borneo Post, way back when, Hills will be a “high-end” shopping experience. They offer (but do not confirm) – CK Jeans, The Body Shop, Mango, Parkson Grand, Mary Brown, etc. We already have those shops except for CK Jeans, but who can afford CK Jeans anyway? Small-town population like Kuching’s cannot sustain “high-end” stores. Hence GUESS backed-off from opening at Spring. Thank goodness Esprit is braver. Haha.
There’s little hope for Zara / Topshop / French Connection / Gap / etc then. Reality sucks.
They do promise the largest book-store (in floor area). Hopefully it will be a decent bookstore other than Popular or MPH. Hopefully Kinokuniya. We really need options here.
Whatever will be, will be and hopefully it’ll be well-maintained and not fail us discerning Kuchingnites. Happy speculating.

Hahaha.. Perhaps, they target more on tourists market in the area.
Kuching is developing and I am sure that the mall will be well-maintained as it is adjacent to the new hotel.

i agree with u, just don’t put too much hope on seeing more high standard stores opening in kuching such as Chili’s, Baskin Robin, Krispy Krime, Nando’s and many more like in KL.
i am appreciate to see Kuching having 3 branches beautiful Starbucks Coffee cafes with exciting unique coffees, like what Malays like to say…ahamdulilah….bersyukur !

i think kuching should take k.kinabalu as a benchmark o as an good example..they population in kk might be more than in kuching..therefore their public transport become more advance than us..they will have their own lrt a few years later..they also have a lot of grand and big shopping malls..almost as standard as kl…so, the points are the local authorities should attract more people stay in kuching and attract more tourist to visit so that the income for Srawak gov will increase and kuching can develop even better and faster..

I am disappointed to see a rude comment here, judging others as “ineligible” shoppers.
Malls are for the public and if only classy-looking shoppers are to be granted entries then that will create another “VIP zone” in Kuching. If that’s what we want then may I suggest a private mall in the Sarawak Club, rather than having to share other malls with so-called “pollutants” – since that disgusts the self-assigned ‘VIP’s?
I am sure the public knows how to dress properly and accordingly. It’s time to take your coloured-glasses off and stop judging the shoppers. The buying power of Kuchingnites is still low, that is a fact that you as a Kuchingnite have to accept – either you are on the top of the pyramid or not. If anyone thinks they are too good to be a Kuchingnite then they should “quit”, rather than staying with the
pollutants”.
Seriously the idea of having prerequisites to be eligible to shop in the malls is absurd. If you are too good to be there then GET OFF!

Dear backinkch,
there are really many “gangster style guys” like so much to gather togather at the area espacialy weekends, they like to see people afraid of them, they think this show that they are powerful. May be you haven’t yet meet them, becareful baby, if u meet them someday, just show that u looks scare of them and don’t show hero to them if u don’t want something more happening. the word “pollutants” shall refer to this people and of course not you or others.

Hey Johnny,
dude… are you telling all of us that you’ve met them and you know them? hah! you have seen nothing yet. those so-called gangster wannabes don’t hang in shopping malls like hills and spring. they don’t even hang in boulevard for goodness sakes. they hang in places like tun jugah, riverside, sarawak plaza, waterfront etc. you should know these things if you wanna judge them so badly. you know nothing about them and yet you still have the guts to judge them. if you hate them so much, why don’t you see them at those places i’ve mentioned and say what you think about them in their faces. i don’t like them either but do you see me doing anything about it?

So after so many comments right here, i have been wondering is the Hills Shopping Malls be opened before X’mas??? I mean its 10th Dec now .. Or shall we say Kuching’s time is different lolzzz … like when u go to wedding dinner, 6.30pm becomes 7.30pm ..
Disappointing huh ..?
Reply
It’s such a pain waiting for Hills to be opened and they kept it so sacred that there’s not even a single clue on the website about them officially opening. They might miss out a great deal for x’mas and new year. Well, as an expat here for a year I sincerely find Kuching seriously in need of good malls like that of tHE Spring that is doing very well and convenience too.
Kuching should quickly do that as more tourist is coming next year as the market is improving and sentiments improved. It does a good job for the BCCK and building more hotels. What’s lacking is good shopping malls to cater to mid to high level people staying in Kuching. Hope things would improve soon if they want to attract more North Asians to Kuching.
Regards
Bob

heyhey…
great to hear the news!
meanwhile I can go and shop during the christmas!
Wonderful…hahahaha…
Anyway, does anyone know that The SkinFood in that building?
Had anyone visited it?
If possible, can help me to notice whether it has any promotions going on or not…
Due to the flight problem, I cannot get back in time…
If there is any promotion, I might ask my family to gather up something for me…hehe =)
Well, I can make a phone call to ask…but the problem is I do not have the phone number >.<
So, if possible, can help me to get the number from the ladies there?
I need it as well…
Thanks in advance and much more appreciate it…=))))

don’t hope Burger King, Delifrance, Baskin Robbin or even McD openning in the mall. Mos Burger is impossible coming to Kuching, we can’t see it yet even in KL.And i guess Baskin Robin only can survive at those places that have lots of tourist like KL & KK,but not in Kuching.
the confirm famous shops in Hills Mall are Old Town White Coffee, Bing Coffee (1st branch openning for years already at Jln Padungan KCH own by western young bos, very romantic cafe), Coffee Bean, Marry Brown, Sushi King, Times Bookstore, Toys R Us, MNG, Skin Food, and others that i can’t remember because they are not my favourites, oh ya, DIGI also there.
