Food is best enjoyed with good company of friends and family. And best of all when your companions are all big meat eaters! It’s always a great and enjoyable time spent when dining in a restaurant that serve great food and drinks. Ante needs no introduction as it is a place where pork lovers would go to.
Ante’s signature dish is the Pork Steak. So far, I’ve yet to discover any other restaurant that serves Pork Steak the way Ante does it. It’s no wonder that Ante won the Time Out KL Food Award 2015 for being the “Best Place for Meat”. I’ll tell you why, but let’s start with the appetizers. Can’t help it. Just have to add that “just took a sip before a shot for Instagram” picture of beer. Really. Where else can you get a fresh pint of beer off the tap at RM17 in this huge shopping mall (One Utama)?
House wine – CabSav @ RM109/bottle (RM23/glass)
There’s more than a handful of House Wines that you can choose for. Specially selected to pair with Ante’s menu.
Do check out Ante’s wine list. As the house wine is a good pour, imagine what you can get out of the list 😀
On Mondays and Tuesdays, there’s promotion of 20% off all wines.
Sorry.. A bit drifted from the main topic.. #alcoholicsunited. Now, back to the food.
Tasting Platter @ RM38
It is recommended to order the tasting platter while waiting for the main course as Ante serves everyone’s dish at one time. It’s a nice gesture that everyone gets to dine together without having 1 poor fella watching the rest eat while waiting for his/her meat to arrive. The platter is good for 2 person. It’s like a mini buffet on a wooden board – Jamon Iberico ham, House cured salmon, smoked duck breast, confit onions, candied olives, cherry tomatoes, pickled beetroot, multi-grain bread and French butter.
The main highlight of the sharing platter is the Jamon Iberico ham. It is like cheese. As you chew it, it gets creamier and I’d push your fork away as I savage the fatty ones :3 The fattier, the creamier.
If you just want the ham, you can have it as a dish. Just order the Jamon Iberico.
Jamon Iberico @ RM32
Too pretty to dig in. Unlike the typical ham and melon, Ante does it differently. This Jamon Iberico is specially created by Ante’s team. It is refreshingly delicious and I won’t want to share it with anyone. Pretty dish consists of Jamon Iberico ham, poached and fresh apple slices, shaved radish, chive flowers.
Smoked duck breast @ RM26
Smoked duck breast done in two ways – shaved and cubed, with cucumber, hazelnuts, tofu, orange segments. garnished with chili oil, chives and spring onion. I highly recommend this! Even though I don’t eat tofu (I cheated. I took the duck slice while someone else had the tofu), but this is creatively made to perfection. The ingredients were well balanced and most of the time people mistaken the tofu for cheese!
House cured salmon @ RM28
Another pretty cold starter – house cured salmon, fried capers, red radish, chervil, egg cream, dill, spring onion oil on a multigrain toast. Similar garnishing as the smoked duck cold starter.
Ante Carbonara @ RM30
If you’re opting for pasta, try the Ante Carbonara, a classic dish. It’s al dente and served with streaky bacon, white button mushrooms and parmesan cheese. Not too rich and creamy, just nice and you would want to lick the plate clean.
Char Siu Curry Cream @ RM33
Ante’s Char Siu Curry Cream Pasta is one of my favourite pasta. The tender and succulent char siu is the highlight as well as the aromatic curry cream pasta. This is very very good. A must have. House made marinated char siu is just to die for and the shimeiji mushrooms and grilled eggplants are there to keep the dish balance. haha..
Chargrilled BBQ Ribs @ RM48
served with kimchi slaw and straight cut fries.
Pork Diane @ RM42
seared pork loin, button mushrooms, russet potatoes, green pea mash, white wine cream sauce.
The Chargrilled Pork Steak @ RM52
This is the dish that defines Ante. The signature steak, russet potatoes, truffle sauce, cherry tomatoes and honey glazed rockets.
Norwegian Salmon @ RM52
If you’re not a meat person, but you don’t want to lose out having a great dining experience with your family and friends, one can always opt for Ante’s Norwegian Salmon. Poached and miso honey glazed, seaweed crust, braised shitake mushrooms, and torched leeks.
Valrhona Chocolate Delice @ RM23
Nothing can go wrong with chocolate. The Valrhona Chocolate Delice is a great choice to end the meal sweet and happy. Rich chocolate slice served with fresh strawberries and blueberries, Hazelnut feuilletine and earl grey tea cream.
Creme Brulee @ RM20
I find the Creme Brulee unique and at the same time mind blowing. It’s a classic creme brulee topped with candied olives and chocolate. It is very unusual to see olives being served with dessert and as peculiar as it looks, it is actually very delicious especially if you love olives. Currently, my favourite dessert in Ante after the Apple Crumble.
Apple Crumble @ RM18
Ante’s homemade Apple Crumble served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and salted caramel syrup. One of my favourite dessert here. I love the crunchy crumbs and soft apple filling. Could use some cinnamon to make it perfect.
