100 Yen Store

There’s a new Japanese Superstore in Kuching called the 100 Yen Store. Located beside RH Plaza’s Taka Cake House. Opposite Louyao aka Lao Hang Jia aka Expert Food Court.

100 Yen Store

Mum said that the store is just like any ordinary “China” product stores like 100% discount store or One Stop Discount store. =X simply because the things displayed inside are mostly kitchen plastic wares. Had to agree with her on that. =X

RM4.90

Everything at RM4.90 each

Everything inside is Japanese products and sold at one fixed price, RM4.90. I took a quick tour inside and didn’t find anything much that would be interesting enough to buy. Furthermore, some of the items seem to be pretty expensive at RM4.90.

Reluctant to leave the store empty handed, I bought myself a can of Jap Mountain Dew. Man.. It’s been ages since I last seen Mountain Dew in Kuching. Teehee..

Bahasa Jepun habis!

Mum on the other hand, bought this banana hanger. Later that night, she purposely go hunt for bananas to make use of her new “asset” in the kitchen. -______________-|||

Banana Hanger

Overall, there’s nothing much interesting stuff to buy apart from its Japanese utilities, food and crackers. We were told that there will be more stuff coming in on the 29th (which is tomorrow). Will drop by to check out the store again next week.

Project 365: Day 85 June 20, 2009

Last Saturday, we had a family gathering at Unc’s place. To celebrate his birthday and also Father’s Day. Bought a cheesecake from Taka for him. Teehee..

Aunty prepared lotsa food for steamboat. And I love the meaty bloody lamb and big prawns the most. *yum yum*

For desserts, I made Vanilla Ice-cream on Doraemon Pancake topped with Hershey Chocolate Syrup. Earlier during the day, Gladys made the Doraemon pancakes using her new Doraemon shaped pan. The making of pancake, will and hopefully be in another post (planning to hog her kitchen with her one day to make pancake).

Dys, the pancake is delicious. The pancake mix from Ta Kiong can buy more. Teehee..

We started wining (wine drinking) when we started dinnering. Some aunties didn’t make it for the dinner due to hashing. All in all only 5 drinkers that night and we managed to open up 7 bottles of wine. Syabas!

7 bottles of wine

Among the 7 bottles, I love the Yellow Tail the most! Chateau Paloumey second (needs breathing but still a good wine I like). The other uncle brought the Yellow Tail and Penfold.

My current favourite wine

It does not need breathing upon opening as it is a matured wine. It is smooth and easy to drink. Sweet end and not sourish. Definitely looking forward to more of this in future.

Yellow Tail - The Reserve

Only Wine & Liquor (Jalan Tun Jugah) sells it. There are other Yellow Tail wine, categorized in different color labels. The differences are the types of grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz and blend of grapes.

Smooth drinking wine

Unc is spoiling us with good wines. Unc even said that I’ve improved. :D As I could tell how each wine differs. Weee..

After each type of wine, the glass needs to be wash and dried before pouring the new wine. Then, you can fully taste the new wine and differentiate from the previous one.

How wonderful it is if there’s wine tasting course in Kuching. From there, I could learn more and get to taste all types of wine.

The aftermath = 7 + 1 = 8

In three months time, we’re opening a new bottle of whisky:

Japanese Whisky

to celebrate an aunt’s birthday, we’re opening this in September. Teehee.. Can’t wait~

Grand Opening of Four Points by Sheraton Kuching

Last few weeks ago, I received an email invitation from Four Points to participate the Grand Opening of Four Points.

Invitation from Four Points

Immediately after work, I drove all the to the hotel, picked up my brother on the way. The jam was a killer and we arrived 40 minutes late. :P

When we walked into the ballroom, they were having some prayer. So, we were fortunate that we didn’t miss the followings:

Global Upline Sdn Bhd adviser Tan Sri Ting Pek Khiing

Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud

Malaysia's Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak

After all the speeches, came the opening ceremony.

After the opening ceremony and signing on the Gold plat, was makan-makan time.

Traffic policemen recharging

People Mountain, People Sea

There were so many people. People from all sorts of organizations, associations, public and me. I met ahlost’s brothers, John and Paul there as well. They dressed up so smartly! Batik weiii… If only I took picha with them, it would be a great shot for my Project 365.

Surprise Birthday Gathering for Ting

Last week we celebrated Ting’s birthday at Planet Sambal. More like a supper gathering and countdown to her birthday. ;)

Nasi Lemak Biasa @ RM3.00

I had the Nasi Lemak Biasa and Ice Nescafe. The nasi lemak’s sambal is spicy! Yum Yum.. But the papadham, after awhile, it’s not crispy anymore. It gets sogy so fast.

Everyone turned up for the gathering. Among them were:

Pazuzu (Alvin), Frankie, Evey, Edwin, and Darrel

Gladys, ahlost, Yien, Steve, TMOT and Gordon

Not in the above pichas are ME (behind the camera), JF (busy taking picha somewhere), Pui Joo and CKY (they left early).

Everyone acted normal like it was our usual gathering. When the clock strikes 11.55pm, Yien and I went to the back to get the cake ready.

Cutie Owl Birthday Cake

The boss was kind enough to participate in our little surprise. When the candles were lit, they switched off the lights and we brought in the cake and everyone sang the birthday song.

Happy Birthday, Ting!

She was surprised and from the picha, you can tell how happy she was. Teeeheee.. Keep that happy face!

Then, came the camwhores. Everyone wanted to take picha with the birthday girl, including me. See how “desperate” I am to get into the picha:

Tsk tsk tsk.. Camwhores..

Die die also want to be in the picha. Climbed over to be with the girls. :P

A much proper group picha of the girls with the birthday girl

After the cake cutting ceremony and uber lots of camwhoring, everyone settled down while some continued taking pichas. It was then, the gift presentation..

From me to Ting

I hope you will like the present and wear it with your new tube top, while drinking the Chinese tea in the new meow meow mug and teapot on the yellow cheezy mouse 3-in-1 rubber mat.

Then, back to our usual eat full nothing to do camwhoring again..

Eat full nothing to do

In case you realized, one of the picha in the gif is not properly placed. LOOL.. I was editing in a hurry. =X

ahlost and I with our super brightening T-shirts

The traffic lights trio

Gladys shirt is actually brown in color, but I Photoshop it redder to suit the “Trafic Lights” theme. Teehee..

The bill is uber long it can fit as a tie

Last but not least, a gathering is not complete without a group picha.

Whose birthday next?

Instant Black Coffee

day 82

For Project 365: Day 83 June 18, 2009

Couple of months back, mum told me that dairy products is no longer safe for consumption. Putting aside melamine of course.

Since then, she started drinking black coffee or Kopi-O rather than coffee with cream/milk. Later, I joined her. Bye bye milk.

Last week, while shopping for groceries,  we saw this IndoCafe 2-1 black coffee and gave it a try.

Verdict: I better stick to mixing my own coffee than relying on 2 in 1 or 3 in 1 mix. And pamper myself once a week over a cup of Starbucks or CoffeeBean’s coffee.
