Few things I learned from traveling abroad is to stay within strategic area which has easy access to public transportation and surrounded with places of interest. On our third night in Seoul, we moved to Hotel Sarangbang which is conveniently located in Insadong Street Art. This area is surrounded with tourist attractions such as Sejong Cultural Center, Changdeok Palace, Jogyesa Temple, Tapgol Park and Jongmyo Temple which is not very far from the hotel.
We booked the hotel online via Agoda.com. This is our first time in Seoul and we were clueless as to where is the best location to stay and which hotel is reliable. So, we filter the locations and found the hotel using Agoda.com’s search filter result. I’m pretty sure the sources here are reliable as there were reviews feedback from travelers who stayed in the hotel before. Since most of the reviews were positive, we didn’t hesitate and booked accordingly.
We moved over to Hotel Sarangbang early in the morning. But because the check-in time is only from 2pm, we left our luggage in the hotel luggage storage. Even when we checked out early the next day, we were able to use the hotel luggage storage facilities and went back to collect our luggage later in the afternoon. The hotel staff was friendly and speaks pretty good English.
Koreans are very specific about wearing shoes indoors. We were told to change shoes to their indoor slippers even from our previous home stay.
The room is pretty spacious and the bed was not as fluffy nor as soft as the one we had previous nights. Can’t compare tho, at least the bed sheets are clean.
The rooms come with huge LCD TV that includes free movie channels, air cond, computer, mini fridge, basic coffee and tea maker, hair dryer (there’s even hair straightener!), massive toiletries (for hair, body and even SKIN CARE!), towels, and free WiFi.
There’s also complimentary LAN and WiFi access.
Huge spacious bathroom that includes complimentary toiletries such as shampoo, facial wash, toothpaste, body foam, hair spray, there’s even shaving cream!
I really like the location as we don’t have to walk more than 10 steps to get to one of our stops in our itinerary. A step out of the hotel we’re in Insadong Street where all heritage and cultural art are found here, lots of shopping can be done here as well. Apart from that, great food around here too. There’s even a 24 hours convenient store just opposite the hotel.
Even found the ice-cream shop that Sharon had when she was in Seoul just few weeks before us:
The nearest transport train station here is Anguk Subway Station which is just a walk away (approximately 200 meters). This is an ideal budget hotel to stay when you’re traveling in Seoul and it is easy to go around with the easy access to public transportation.
