When it comes to Bangsar dining, many people will just head out to the malls or those shops along Jalan Telawi. Actually, Bangsar is bigger and more than that! There’s a row of shops along Jalan Bangkung and it is one of Bangsar’s hidden gems.
Midi57 is one of the restaurant within the hidden gem at the Bangkung Row. Stationed at the corner lot, the outlet is spacious and a nice place to chill. The area is very windy in the evening, and seats on the outdoor is a great options, unless it rains.
Midi57 whipped up a variety of cocktails for us to sample. From Classic Margaritas to Colorful Cocktails to high kicking shots like B52 (layers shot of coffee liquor) and good for hangover cocktail such as Bloody Mary.
We started off with some crispy snacks as appetizers. All of them were perfect match for a pint (or more) of beer or just with cocktails.
Deep Fried Polenta
The Deep Fried Polenta were my favourite among all the snacks. It has a very soft centre and oozy cheese. Falls apart easily as you fork through it, nonetheless, still the best. So yums!
Some delightful pieces of cured pork came with garden salad and loaded with baby Mozzarella. Just perfect to go with our next drink, crispy fresh white wine.
Secret De Berticot
Côtes De Duras Sauvignon 2012
Before hitting the pizzas, we had this crispy foccacia which is seasoned with garlic, rosemary and olive oil. A very crispy thin crust and I didn’t go for more than a slice as I set to fill my tummy with more yummies.
The Porchetta Pizza is a definite must have when dining or just drinking at Midi57. A pork lover must have, I must add. Topped with generous amounts of aromatic roasted pork, sundried tomato, and rocket salad.
Porkiliciously good! A must have.
The Spaghetti Caronara and Lasagna were served in sampling portion (actual portion not this small). Both were rich and creamy. Wish there were more bacons in the spaghetti. Teehee..
The Midi57 Bar Burger consists of Slow Cooked Minced Pork, tomato, lettuce, red onion, swiss cheese and served in homemade toasted bun and fries. I know what you’re thinking, what’s with the fries. It’s fun this way.
Thick tender patty, juicy per se.
For meat lovers, try the Lamb Leg with Szechuan Pepper and Onions braised in Guinness (for lamb lovers) or the Chicken with Black Olives, Mushroom, Rosemary Sauce, perhaps both sharing with friends. These Pot Plates are cooked in the wood-fired oven for hours! Not sure if you need to book them in advance or they pre-cooked this in advance. Do check with the server. I prefer the chicken as it is very tender and packed with flavours.
Dinner ended with sweet endings of Chef’s creation for the night, Choco Bomb, and Chocolate Ginger Ganache. Both paired with watermelon. The Choco Bomb is made of chocolate shell with a filling of semifreddo and the fun eating it is “exploding” it using the spoon. Give it a knock and starts digging in. I personally prefer the Chocolate and Ginger Ganache. The Ginger Ganache didn’t quite register well between my tastebud and brain at the first taste, but later when it finally register, I can’t help dipping the choc into it.
