Luncheon at Imperial Duck

Last week, after visiting the ROC at STA, we went to Imperial Duck for lunch. I got many comments from friends and there were some positive and negative ones. To feed my curiosity and our tummy, we went to try.

Imperial Chicken and Duck RiceSoya Sauce Chicken with Imperial Duck Rice @ RM7.00

We thought of trying several types of their meat, so we ordered this plate. Frankly, I was disappointed. The name is so nice and anyone would expect for something Imperial and Duckish. First, there were only 3 slices of duck. Secondly, the ducks are not meaty nor juicy. The part I got were fatty and boney. How to taste the sweetness and juiciness of the duck with that? Thirdly, the chicken are pretty good but a bit too dry. The sauce served is nice but recommended if got spicy sauce too. The pickles are just okay. Oh, by the way, I don’t like the plate. It has rough surface whereby, when you scoop the rice, there’s the schreeeching sound and it gives goosebumps arrr.. *geli geli feelings*

Imperial Har KaoHar Kao (Prawn Dumplings) @ RM4.50

The har kaos have very strong sesame oil taste. A bit too much o~ The prawns are fresh indeed but not Q.

Imperial Shanghai Fried Dumplings - 3 pcs only

Shanghai Style Pan Fried Dumplings @ RM3.60

The Fried Dumplings are pretty okay. The sauce is special. Normally the fried dumplings we get from other places are served with ginger and black vinegar. Here, the dumplings are served with ginger and pinkish orangey vinegar. I guess it’s some imported vinegar. The sauce is different and the taste is soft. Something different and something I would expect from Imperial Duck. To serve a different menu than others.

Service wise, it’s need to be improved. The waiter who took our order, double confirmed with us. YET, they missed one of our drink. That made us curly eyebrows (angry expression) as we kept asking for it, everytime they check the order list, they will say, “Go check first”, then, walked away. After we finished our meal, the drink is not here yet, so we called a lady in glasses which look like the supervisor of the place. She checked at our order list and told us that the one drink we’re waiting for is not in the list. Double curly eyebrows now. She was kind enough to offer us the drink, but we’re already curly eyebrows waiting for it, so, Just get us the bill please.

I’m impressed at the same time, when I went to pay the bill, we were charged only for our meals. The other 2 drinks we had were… Complimentary?
