If you’re planning for CNY dinner reunion or Sao Gong Zao, I personally recommend Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant in One World Hotel. By far, Zuan Yuan has a great variety sumptuous delights which flatters my tastebud. Since Zuan Yuan is a pork-free restaurant, it is suitable to organise departmental lunch or dinner here. A CNY feast is not complete without Yee Sang (Prosperity Toss). This is a must have as Yee Sang is considered a symbol of abundance, prosperity and vigor. Also, in a way, it gets everyone reunited and making wishes while tossing the Yee Sang ingredients as high as they could. Likewise, it is said that the messier the toss, the better it is.
We started our dinner with Yee Sang with Soft Shell Crab and Condiments as this is Zuan Yuan‘s Chef’s recommendation. Shark fin soup is a Chinese cuisine delicacy for centuries and it symbolises wealth and prosperity. It is also known as an emperor dish as it was historically served only to wealthy people.
Delicious Braised Shark’s Fin Soup with Dried Scallop, Bamboo Shoot and Crab Meat and even more delightful with a tinge of black vinegar.
Zuan Yuan Crispy Roasted Duck is one of my favourite dish in Zuan Yuan apart from their Honey Glazed Boneless Chicken Topped with Crispy Ginger Flakes!
The Chinese herb roasted crispy skin with tender, juicy and succulent meat is to die for. I can eat the whole duck with a bowl of white steamed rice!
The duck is served with original duck dipping sauce and plum sauce. Adding both the sauces and dipping each piece of the crispy yet succulent red meat is simply divine!
This is my first time tasting steamed fish with red date! Never have I thought that such combination would make this Steamed Star Garouper with Wood Fungus and Red Date such a delectable dish! The sweet and savoury sauce that goes well with the fresh fish is delicious and nutritious. All the -ious!
The Braised Sliced Mexican Abalone with Sea Moss, Dried Oyster and Seafood in Claypot can be a meal on its own! With various ingredients in a pot, you’ll find braised abalone with sea moss, dried oyster, dried seafood such as fish maw, and brocolli all cooked to perfection.
This is one of the yummiest Wok Fried Tiger Prawn with Oats and Chilli I’ve ever had! The tiger prawns are very fresh and fried to perfection where the flesh is still tender and juicy, covered with oats and chili. Oh, the oats and chili is very appetizing!
As Zuan Yuan is a pork-free restaurant, the Steamed Lotus Leaf Rice with Assorted Preserved Meat, Chicken Sausage and Yam comes with pork-free Lap Mei (Chinese wax meat). I don’t find many restaurants that serves pork-free Lap Mei Fan, so this is quite the winner. Everyone can have Lap Mei Fan now.
Only during the CNY period, Zuan Yuan will be serving a variety of dim sum. You don’t normally get dim sum here, unless during special occasions and promotions. This is not to be missed!

For dessert, we have this contemporary type of Nian Gao (sweet sticky cake) deep fried with Cheddar Cheese and coated with grated coconut.
Quite like the combination flavours between the sweet and salty from the Nian Gao and Cheddar cheese. Quite a combo
