Everyday eat outside can be boring. Cooking at home would be very tiring too. Sometimes, a simple cooking is good enough and it can be very healthy.

Today, I shall share with you all on how to cook a delicious and healthy soup, yet simple and easy to prepare. (Yerdeh.. feel like cooking show in TV)

I don’t know the name for the soup, I shall just call it, ‘Healthy Black Chicken Soup’.

What you will need:

A black chicken. You can get this from the market or supermarket. Since Ta Kiong is the nearest, I just buy the chicken from there. One whole chicken for RM14.95, includes the internal organs, excludes the chicken feathers.

You will need these three important dried goodies. They are dried red dates, ginseng and the little red thingy. You can get these from Chinese drug stores. They can also be found in some supermarkets.

First of all, clean the chicken. Make sure there’s no feathers left on the skin and inside of the chicken is clean from blood. There’s no need to cut the chicken into small pieces. However, you can also cut the chicken into smaller pieces so that it’s easier to distribute the meat.

Put in the dried ingredients into the bowl and add in water.

There’s no need to add salt, msg, and any other flavourings. The flavours will come out from the dried ingredients and the chicken.

Place the bowl into the wok and cover it with a big plate. Close the wok with its cover and let it steam for approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Always check the water in the wok. Make sure there’s sufficient water, if there’s very little water left in the wok, add somemore hot water.

Tadahhh.. Once the Healthy Black Chicken Soup is cooked, you can cut the chicken easily using a pair of kitchen scissors. By now, the meat and bones are very soft. If you don’t have a pair of kitchen scissors, you can just pull the meat off from the chicken. Or, you can use a table spoon to cut the chicken by it’s joints.

Aihh.. now I’m craving for a bowl of this healthy black chicken soup. Go drink my soup now. bye.
